BOOK BLITZ: Coming For You by J.A. Huss @JAHuss

Coming For You by J.A. Huss
(Dirty Dark and Deadly #3)
Publication date: November 19th 2014
Genres: Erotica, Thriller

Synopsis:

James, Harper, and Sasha are products of their environment. Born into a secret organization that runs a global shadow government, and taught to kill since they were small, they find themselves both indispensable and expendable to all the people they used to trust.

Twenty-eight year old James Fenici has been an assassin since he was sixteen. He’s amassed debts and favors from countless Company brothers and participated in hundreds of Company jobs. But there are not enough favors in the world to clear his debt and make him worthy of the only girl he’s ever wanted.

Eighteen year old Harper Tate is the girl who doesn’t exist. Born and raised on a megayacht in a tropical paradise, she was destined to be a secret until now. No history, no records, and manipulated into having no opinions or ambition of her own, Harper is suddenly presented with more choices than she can handle.

Thirteen year old Sasha Cherlin is the girl who knows everything and understands nothing at all. Her future is filled with vengeance and death, but her dreams are filled with hope and a promise. A promise who no longer wants her.

The game is on, the pieces are in place, and the players have everything to lose. But who can you trust when everyone’s a traitor?

EXCERPT
HARPER

The rolling of the ship eases me out of my slumber. I’m home. That thought bounces around my head for several seconds before I remember, this is not home. I’m on my father’s yacht. I don’t open my eyes and I don’t stop breathing heavily. Instead, I give off a long sleepy sigh and turn over. I crack one eye as I do that to try and figure out if I’m alone in the room.
“How are you feeling?” my father asks.
Not alone.
“It’s wearing off, Harper. The doctor gave you a drug to make it wear off. I hope you realize we only drugged you so that Tet would leave quietly. But you became combative the last few times we brought you out of it—”
The last few times?
“—and since you’ve been known to make rash and dangerous decisions, we were forced to subdue you.”
Well. Since there’s no use pretending I’m still asleep when they know for a fact I’m not, I open both my eyes. He’s staring down at me and he looks worried, but then he smiles.
I hate to admit that it’s reassuring. He’s my father. It’s hard to turn that off.
“How are you feeling?” he asks again. “OK?” His smile makes the corners of his eyes crinkle up. My father is handsome, even at fifty-one. His hair is not gray, it’s still dark and it’s still thick. His suit, however, is gray. And his tie is navy blue. When I was a girl I always loved to touch them. “Harper, answer me,” he demands, but not unkindly.
I pause for a few seconds and then nod. “I’m OK.”
His smile grows and I get a warm feeling that I don’t immediately understand. I mean, who is this man? How can he call himself my father when he’s part of this organization and all they want is to use me as a whore to marry off?
“We’re having dinner in an hour. I’ve had them prepare your favorites to welcome you home.”
I don’t know what to say to that, so I look away.
“Harper,” he says sternly so I refocus on him. “I’m glad you’re home.”
I don’t know what to say to that either.
“Did you even miss me?”
Why is he asking me these things?
“Because this ship was not the same without you two.”
I look up at him for that. “Is Nick here?”
“No.”
I look away.
“He’s hiding. But once he hears you’re back, he’ll come for you, Harper. I know he will.”
“So I’m a trap? To catch him.”
“Why in the world do you think I’m trying to catch him? He’s a grown man now. He can do as he pleases. I admit, he’s messed up my plans for you two. But I’m not wholly dissatisfied about that.”
I glance at him again. “You’re not?”
“Why would I be unhappy that you were not given away on your birthday, Harper. I love you. I might not have been the perfect father, but I was present more than most parents in this modern world. I did my business on the ship to stay near you. I really do not understand where this distrust comes from.”
“You promised me to someone.”
“I had to. It’s required. Which is why I’m not upset that didn’t happen.”
“James said you promised me to him.”
“Tet is mistaken.”
“I remember him, though. From the beach party when we trend Six.”
“He said no, Harper. I gave him the opportunity and he said no. That was the end of it for me.”
“But you sent for him every year.”
This makes him hesitate and when I look up at his face I see the shift. He wasn’t expecting me to know that.
“Tet told you that?”
“James told me that.”
My father sucks in a breath through clenched teeth. “It would be a very big mistake to mix them up, Harper. James is not Tet, and Tet is not James.”
I get a really sick feeling in my stomach at that comment. “What are you talking about?”

“He’s insane. He’s been this way for a very long time. Years.”

COME
Dirty, Dark, & Deadly, #1

My name is James Fenici and you will never see me coming. I walk the shadows like darkness itself. I hide in the corners where nobody looks. I live by no rules, I have no boundaries, I take no prisoners, and I never, ever blink. I am not your knight in shining armor; I'm your worst nightmare.

My name is James Fenici and you are my target. Only one of us is getting out alive, and that's not gonna be you. Once your name is on my list, your life is over. It's a deal I make with death, it's a contract I sign in blood, it's forgone conclusion--get used to it.

My name is James Fenici and I'm as dirty as they come. But then one day I saw her. And every monster I thought I was. Every fact I thought I knew. Every dirty promise I ever turned down came back to slap me in the face.

My name is James Fenici and I think I am in love.

COME BACK
Dirty, Dark, & Deadly, #2

"Secrets keep the darkness alive," Harper tells me. But that's not how I see it at all. Secrets keep me alive, the truth is overrated, honesty is never the best policy, and when your job title is Assassin Number Six--lies are your lifeblood.

"Death is a business deal," I tell her back. And I shake his hand with secrets every chance I get. They're currency in my world. I pay my debts with them, I feed on them, they ground me in the present and they promise me a future.

But Harper Tate is everything I've ever wanted. She's my promise, she's my obsession, she's a delicious fuckable transgression. She can be mine. She will be mine. All I have to do is complete the mission.

There's just one teeny, tiny problem with the mission.

It's a secret.

A book that is a romantic read, with hot, steamy sizzles in all the right places.

I like the fact that real life issues are dealt with here.

A well written read, with characters that you could easily relate to.
After reading this you wouldn't believe that this is a new author.

A recommended read

EXCERPTS: UNLIKELY VENTURE by: Kristen Luciani

Excerpt 1:

JESSICA’S IPHONE CHIRPED with the dreaded fifteen-minute warning. She groaned, berating herself for stopping at Starbucks with so little time to spare. But a double shot of something caffeinated was an absolute must for this meeting.
The all-too-perky barista called her name and she grabbed the cup, hoping to find a taxi outside the café. It was an optimistic yet unrealistic expectation since she was in Palo Alto, not Manhattan.
Cars raced up and down El Camino Real and Jessica released an impatient sigh. Not one taxi in sight. Seriously? She headed toward the intersection, just in case one magically materialized out of thin air.
Her heart pounded as she concocted potential excuses for her jackass boss Charlie. If she missed the meeting—No, it just wasn’t an option. This client was too important to their consulting practice and she was a key presenter. This is my big chance. If I land the client, he’ll have to put me up for that promotion. I need to get there in time. Dammit, are there any taxis in this town?
Jessica sprinted to the corner in five-inch Louboutins, wincing at the uncomfortable tingling sensation in her toes. Just ignore the pain, Jess. It became her mantra over the past several months but she was only resisting the inevitable. Sure, they’re manageable now but who knows how much worse these symptoms will get? It was a question that plagued her every day since she received the diagnosis. My career is all I have left and this promotion represents everything I’ve been working toward. I refuse to let this disease derail me.
Walking across town to the client site was out of the question. In fact, surviving another few blocks would be nothing short of a miracle. A taxi rolled up to the red traffic light and she waved her arms to get the cabbie’s attention. The timing was perfect; it would only take about ten minutes to get down to—
“Aahhhh!” Jessica lurched forward as the unexpected impact sent her phone flying into the air. Searing coffee splashed over the side of the cup, soaking her blouse and pants. She recoiled, her hand bright red and throbbing. “What the fu—?”
A strong hand gripped her shoulder and she snapped her head around to get a good look at her assailant.
“Are you okay?”

Excerpt 2:

The enormous skybox spilled over with A-listers, and it was decorated with a glitzy Vegas lounge motif. Lisa was in her element, pointing out celebrity after celebrity, drooling over each and every one.
“Holy cow! Jessie, look at Ashley Marshall! Those boobs are totally fake—I don’t care what she said in that interview! Do you see Jordan Priestly over there? He is so much hotter in person, don’t you think? Should I go and talk to him? He just broke up with Melissa Travers, I read about it in US Weekly on the flight out here!”
Laughing, Jessica’s eyes traveled around the crowded skybox, marveling at how many stars showed up to Oak- land that night. I guess Dezzie is one hot ticket after all.
Her smile faded when her eyes locked on Paul Emerson. Oh please, not again ...
“Lisa!” She nudged her friend.
“What?” Lisa snapped to attention. “Do you see someone else? Is Dezzie in here?”
“No, not Dezzie. Paul Emerson.” Jessica nodded to where he stood.
Whoa,” Lisa breathed. “He’s gorgeous, Jessie, you crazy ass fool. Remind me again why you’re not interested in bedding that perfect specimen of a man over and over and over?”
Jessica rolled her eyes. “That’s just the wrapping, Li. I'm much more into what’s inside the box, you know?”
“Look, sweetie, you’ve already unwrapped the pack- age and acknowledged how unbelievable it was. How much better do you think it’s going to get?”
“That’s not what I meant,” Jessica groaned. She was fighting a losing battle. Lisa didn’t care about substance.
“Uh, don’t look now, but I guess Emerson spotted you too, Jessie.” Lisa poked her with a long red fingernail.
“Whaa?” Jessica turned to see Paul walking towards them. Oh crap. “Don’t leave, okay, Li? I’m telling you, something makes me really uncom—”
Lisa snorted. “Spare me, Jess. If some rich foxy guy had me in his sights, uncomfortable is the last thing I’d feel. Loosen up a little and have some fun with it. You’re young, hot and based on that smoldering look he’s giving you, I’d say you’re pretty damn good in the sack.”
Excerpt 3:

“Life’s too short. I get it now, after all this time. I’ve done a lot of soul-searching lately and I don’t want to miss out on living anymore. I want to enjoy as much as I can without having to be bogged down with worries. You never know when your time’s up.” He snapped his fingers. “It can happen just like that.”
“You’re right, the small stuff really isn’t that important.” She hesitated, not knowing what to say next.
He stroked her hand. “I decided I’d rather take a chance on something ... or someone ... then wonder if things might have been different if I wasn’t afraid to try.”
Jessica’s heart pounded as he stared at her. She saw the hope alive in his eyes. He says that now. But will he still feel that strongly once he finds out I’m sick? Will he still want me then? I don’t want to find out, it’s better if we keep this light. But she couldn’t ignore the unmistakable connection between them. It was almost strong enough to trump her fears and insecurities, at least for the short-term.

Excerpt 4:

This was it. There was no turning back. Once we do this, everything changes ... but it feels so right with him. How did I go so long without this? I’ve never experienced anything like it before. Maybe I’ve never really been in love. Oh my God, am I now? Is it even possible?
Jessica fumbled with his belt buckle for what seemed like hours. It was dark and she couldn’t see well. Argh, why do they have to be button fly? She cringed and bit her lip. Pain shot through her finger as a corner of her nail tore off. Dammit! I’m really trying hard to be seductive here! Why am I so spastic? He’s going to think I’m a complete amateur! Squeezing her injured finger, she freed the last button without incident. Finally! She slid off his pants then reached into his boxer briefs, eager to find out what was waiting for her. A gasp escaped her lips before she could stop it. Irish curse? Um, that would be a big, fat swollen no. She wrapped her fingers around him, her pulse racing with delight. Oh. My. God.

“What’s wrong?” He looked down at her.

She grinned. “Absolutely nothing. Now kiss me.”
Excerpt 5:

“Maybe this will clear things up.” He thrust the phone at her. “If memory serves, I introduced you to Paul Emerson last night. This picture was taken two nights ago. Pretty cozy for two people who supposedly didn’t know each other less than twenty-four hours ago. Care to explain?”
She looked at the screen and gasped. “Where did this come from?”
“That’s all you can say? Really? You’ve got nothing else?”

Jessica’s eyes filled with tears. “Listen, I know it looks bad but—”

Looks bad? Are you fucking kidding me? How long has this even been going on, Jessica? Is he the real reason why you’ve been trying to stay out here? You pretended not to know each other last night! What’s the end game here? You knew all along that we were working with his company and now ... I get this picture. Tell me, did you screw him after you blew me off? I didn’t get a picture of that, so I’m just curious if you were doing him when you told me you had to be up early for work. What an asshole I am!” James paused, his breathing heavy and fists clenched at his sides.
“James, you have to let me explain! It isn’t what you think at all. I mean, yes, I do know him and he’s the one who invited me to the cocktail party, but it was strictly professional—”
“Professional? Seriously? With his tongue down your throat and his hand on your ass? Is that the new definition of professional?”

Review by Mazzy Boss Lady

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review

I found this to be a very different read, after reading the blurb you think that you are going to get one thing and it totally surprises you.

The plot was intriguing and there were twists and turns with in the book that kept you guessing.

The characters were easily related to and the writing very good.

I will be looking forward to seeing what Amanda does next.
Excerpt:
Step, step, breathe, breathe, step, step, breathe, breathe. My shoes kept a steady rhythm with my burning lungs. I veered off my regular path, opting to hear the crunch of the leaves beneath my feet. The image of my mom’s disapproving face was ignored as I leapt across a gurgling brook. Breathe, breathe, crunch, crunch.
If I wasn’t mountain biking, I was running. I craved speed and freedom. I had to escape the oppressive perfection of living in the Campbell home. Thinking of my two older sisters, one model and the other a star volleyball player, my legs lunged, lengthening their stride. Not good at team sports and terrified by cameras, I knew my family felt my height was wasted on me.
Even Jeremy gives me a hard time.
A stitch pinched my side. Breathe, breathe. I knew I was going too fast, not pacing myself right. Something was urging me on, pushing me to scale the hill before me, and plunge deeper into the woods. I refocused on my rhythm, my inhales and exhales, and my body realigned itself, goose bumps shooting across my arms. There it is. I’d hit my second wind and I surged on, not caring where my feet led.
It’s freedom! Complete and—
There was a rush of air, a whistling in my ear, and a sting to the back of my arm. Instantly, I tumbled to the ground, sliding into the damp morning dew. Cold dirt filled my nostrils as blackness enveloped me.
------------------------------
I heard my own labored breathing long before I realized I was somewhere in between awake and asleep. Forcing my eyes open, I gasped. My senses took everything in at once—the smell of wood shavings, the scratchy ropes on my wrists and ankles, and the pressure of the mattress beneath my body. I screamed, but the empty room with wooden floors and stacked logs for walls was empty. No one burst through the door in the corner.
Realizing it was useless and only making my throat raw, I fell silent. Panic flooded me. How did I get here? I pressed my thoughts to retrace my steps, but my mind felt sluggish. My last memory was running in the woods just before sunrise. I could still feel the burn from the autumn air hitting my lungs. Now the solitary window painted a yellow rectangle on the floor. The room felt stuffy. It’s probably late afternoon. But is it the same day?
The minutes rolled slowly into hours, the silence suffocating. What had my therapist said to do when I was scared? Breathe deeply and don’t panic. It was too late for that; all the years of therapy after my childhood accident were rendered useless. I’m drowning all over again. Only this time, it wasn’t water filling my lungs but pure fear and terror pressing down on my chest. I gulped in dry air, my eyes burning with tears.
No one’s coming to save me. A sob escaped me as the real horror of the situation washed over me. I’m tied up. Someone knows I’m here. What would happen when they came back? As the last rays of light were snuffed out by the shadows of the night, that someone came through the wooden door.

Inked, ripped and a gentleman at heart I need a Joey "City" Gallo in my life...totally swoon worthy alpha male book boyfriend that is the lead in this hot sexy read.

This is an enjoyable easy read that had me laughing out loud at times as our leading lady is really very humorous and sweet. She is a math teacher, as straight laced as they come with a hidden dirty girl that needs a little coaxing to come out. A chance meeting after her car breaks down on a stretch of lonely road forever changes her world.

"when eating becomes sexual Houston, we have a problem."

Joey is her knight on a steel horse and the insta attraction between them is panty melting hot! This is their story it is without any huge dramas just the realistic battle most couples face in the early days. Will this work out? Can this be my HEA? Are we right for each other? There are some scenes that ramp up the tension and revelations of the past that explain the reluctance to love.

This was a refreshing love story, girl meets boy, they fall hard for each other and after a few hiccups along the way admit their feelings. The characters are loveable, realistic and believable. There are awwwwww moments and scenes that had me chuckling. I love the Gallo family...and want to be part of their next Christmas gathering!

OMG a whole lot of male hotness.

Chelle you've outdone yourself, the first book was hot, but this second book is hotter.

Gallo men where do I get me one of those

Review by Nadia Chief Pimpette

***Obsessed by books copy given in exchange for an honest review***

Picking up the story line from book one, but can be read as a stand alone, this is Michael's turn to find out that love is worth fighting for.

After a fight in the ring he ends up in the hospital with an injury and meets Mia for the first time. A few months later they bump onto each other again and the sparks fly! I loved the irony of an emergency doctor falling for a cage fighter and the conflict in interests. Mia is a sassy spit fire who is an even match for Michael. He is a burning hot gallant book boyfriend who seriously pulls out all the stops to romance his girl.

This is a heart warming love story of two people who due to their work commitments need to re prioritise their lives to make room for one another. The sex scenes...oh my Freakin days. No words to describe just how electric these two are in between the sheets!

A five star read for me ...it's like slipping into a hot bath; comfortable, relaxing and steamy. I enjoyed catching up with the family and this book has it's own drama and plot twists which I won't spoil. It's a fab read...but don't listen to me, read it and find out!

Resist Me

Synopsis
Izzy Gallo has never been described as a member of the weaker sex. She’s a woman who doesn’t take shit from anyone. Growing up with four older overprotective brothers has hardened her, making her a force to be reckoned with.

Against the wishes of her two brothers, Joe and Mike, Izzy takes a weekend trip to Bike Week in Daytona, turning her world upside down.

Over her head, in a world she doesn’t understand, there’s only one man who can save her.

James Caldo has dedicated his life to protect and serve as a member of the DEA. He’s cocky, overbearing, and doesn’t take no for an answer – the Gallo men have nothing on him.

When their paths cross, James makes Izzy question everything she believes about completely surrendering to the opposite sex.

Does James have what it takes to overpower the headstrong Izzy, capturing her heart forever?

This book is Izzy's story and I really must tell you that this is a must read. I've loved all the books in this series so far, but I fell head over heels with this one.

Izzy is a strong character and that is not surprising with the brothers that she has.

James wow oh wow he never gives up and this man knows exactly want he wants, but does he get our Izzy?

Well if you want to find out, I'm not going to tell you, your going to have to buy the book, which I highly recommend.

Chelle really this book is amazing, as all the others in the series. I love your work, and I cannot wait to see what else you have in store for us.

Ok I know I'm gushing...I love this series! Why? Because you feel part of the Gallo , the plot lines are realistic but have just enough drama to make it exciting edge of your seat gripping. The sex scenes, especially Izzy's ...are sizzling. She may be the only girl in this family but boy does she know what she wants in bed.

Izzy is sassy, a spit fire who can handle herself. James is a hardened DEA agent that works closely with her brother. Being reckless and not listening to advice gets Izzy in hot water and James swoops in to save her. They have a history from the wedding and both have dome issues, James is a strong headed alpha male. He fits right into the family...including his ink ;)
