Keaton Mara once lived through a hell created by the most detestable malefactor she has ever known. Ready to put the worst behind her, she returns to the life she once abandoned with Noah, the man who arguably broke her and saved her simultaneously, at her side.

Noah Oliver is on what he believes to be an ordained mission. Purging the evil from the world is a crucial element of his personal vendetta. The seduction of the tormented souls, enticing them to give in to their temptations, accompanies his central mission.

Without Noah’s sanctuary to keep his more depraved desires satisfied, and with Keaton attempting to adopt a normal life, Noah faces an inescapable conflict.

Can Noah keep the devil off his back, or will the individuals he has the grandest plans for witness his wrath when they fall from grace?

Content contains descriptive violence, coarse language, graphic sex, minor horror elements, and scenes that most readers would find objectionable. Reader discretion is strongly advised.

it was amazing

Courtney you have seriously done it again. This read is so dark it will darken you soul. It is so beautifully written, that you know that the author has put her heart and soul into this book.

Noah, is one seriously twisted, dark, messed up man. He feels that everything he does has a purpose and that there is no wrong in it at all. He feels that he has the right to inflict pain on the one person that he wants to keep. He is addicted to it all, and he wishes to isolate Keaton from everything and everyone but him. He wants her reliant on him in every way possible.

Keaton has suffered so much, and she feels that what Noah inflicts on her is what she wants. After coming back to her hometown things start to change, realisations are made. Secrets are spilled and a stranger enters Keaton's life, with the purpose of helping her.

Braedon, is a man that comes in to save Keaton and her mothers campaign. No-one knows his secrets and he is hiding a very big one at that.

Courtney has delivered a deliciously dark read yet again, I swear that her books get darker with each one she writes. This book was devoured by me, a real page turner, you are engrossed right from the start. Looking forward desperately to the next book.

it was amazing
"I'm going to darken your soul so severely you'll never know the definition of light again - like I promised you I would. Welcome to the first day of the start of your real rebirth."

The compound that housed Rebirth may be nothing but smouldering ashes but like the phoenix of myth and legend Noah's vision to carry out the work of Lord will rise and be even stronger than before. Keaton is trying to assimilate in to her new yet old life in D.C. putting the tragic events behind her and wearing her mask of normality to help her mother win her campaign. Keeping the horrors of why she abandoned her lifestyle and ended up on the streets a secret along with the true nature of depravity she endured whilst at Rebirth Keaton's mask is slowly slipping. Unable to balance her persona for her family and friends with her relationship with Noah something has to give before she ends up nothing more than shattered pieces...

Noah, beautifully twisted and insanely wicked, is a man with a vision. Learning a little more about his motivations he is a man who is an addict, he has a dependency and unfortunately for Keaton it's her screams of pain that he needs a hit of to quieten the demons in his soul. With Rebirth gone Noah needs to feed the hunger he has before it consumes him. Plotting and planning Noah seeks guidance from God, believing he is the chosen one that has been entrusted with a mission to punish evil doers and provide them with ther penance in form of bloody retribution. Noah is a master manipulator, playing with the emotions of the weak, making them dance to his tune. And yet gone is the finer aspects of his manipulation as his inner darkness is let loose predominantly on Keaton's flesh. His behaviour reaches a crescendo and his mask of civility slips to reveal the darkness that is so consuming. What is his mission and why is Keaton the central figure in his plans?

Braedon, a new enigma, swoops in to play the saviour not only for Keaton but for her mother's campaign too. Liking to keep to the shadows he is a mystery yet oozes compassion and humility. Why is he so invested in Keaton and her family? Nobody does anything out of the kindness of their hearts, or do they?

This is a story of three parts and of three main characters. Honestly I have no winning side as they are all wonderfully broken as each other. Keaton is no lady in distress that needs saving as she welcomes the torment and punishment Noah exacts as a method of alleviating her guilt. Her secrets and need to be false causes so much more misery for herself and her loved ones. Noah is a total lunatic that cannot equate his actions with his father's as he believes in his convictions to his last breath. His hubris will be his downfall. As for Braedon hmmmmm I'm on the fence. I cannot neither profess my love for him or hate him yet I'm eager to learn more.

This is like a walk in the forest after dark; the expected is not the reality, the fear and trepidation build leaving you a nervous wreck and every reaction is heightened. It is a dark read there is no escaping that this book will push your limits as Keaton strives to be everything Noah needs but his thirst for her pain surpasses anything she has ever experienced. It's grim and raw , the way she accepts his treatment is frustrating and made me despise her a little for not being stronger than that. Her acceptance feels like a betrayal somehow. Noah is wicked but I love him for it as he makes no excuses for his behaviour. Braedon is a puzzle, one I can't wait to figure out. Overall this story kept me guessing and had me questioning everything, I need the answers!

A five star soul blackening read.

Excerpt

My body was riddled with agony; the slightest touch brought about an excruciating sensation. The pangs superseded any ability to have an orgasm. Whether he tasted me, or cradled me in his arms, and plunged into me—carefully, slowly, adoringly—there was no pleasure to be had.

Hovering over me, he watched me as a creeping look of satisfaction displayed itself across his face. He grabbed my chin, forcing me to look up at him as the tears steadily streamed down my cheeks. “I’ve never loved someone as much as I love you, and it’s why I hurt you so much.” He clasped his hand to my neck with hardly any pressure and pressed his lips to mine. “Circumstances have changed. My needs have changed. I need you to love me as much as I love you. No one ever has. I need you to love me, and I need you to become my wife.”

I was thrust immediately from one emotion to the next. I couldn’t dissect what I felt; I didn’t want to.

Stark naked, he pulled out of me and lifted off the bed, disappearing for a while. When he returned, he held two white pills in his hand and a glass of water in the other. Lifting my head through my winces, he placed the pills one by one into my open mouth and tipped the glass of water to my lips. He stared at me as I glared at him. His lips moved as though he had something to say but couldn’t find the right words to verbalize it.

On the brink of his phone ringing, he released me and reached across the bed to grab his phone. He became visibly agitated over whatever he saw.

Preparing to leave, he left me with his last words of the night before he disappeared, “There are only so many times you can pretend to be something you’re not before the real you cracks through. You need this, princess, as much as I need it. You breathe for me like I breathe for you. Stop holding your breath, thinking you will survive without me.” He delayed and dropped his chin. His eyes were shielded by his dark, thick eyelashes. His words were barely heard, “The devil’s whispers are quieter when I’m with you.”

The Sect (Wicked Trinity, Book #1)

the sect.jpg
Synopsis: Keaton Mara ran away from a life that had become a nightmare to live on the streets. While the location she now calls home is a dangerous place, she is protected by an unlikely friendship.
The streets provided her with the education she could've never earned from the prestigious university she attended. Regrettably, the term 'educated fool' becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Due to meeting a man with whom she shares a captivating chemistry with, her judgment is clouded, resulting in a fateful decision.
The consequence of trusting the prepossessing stranger results in her being stolen away to a place unknown. Her deceptive new surroundings are just as beautiful as the people who reside there. She discovers that it's a place where the culture of sex without limits or morals is their religion.
Keaton quickly begins to realize that the beautiful scenery serves to hide a very dark truth. The seductive and enigmatic man--who lured her there--desires to save her soul. His intentions are sinister, because saving her soul is synonymous with breaking her.
Because Keaton believes her soul was brutally stolen from her many years ago, she thinks he can't save (or destroy) something she no longer has.
She…was...wrong.

About the Author

courtney lane.jpg

COURTNEY LANE has been creating her own little world since she was very young.
While many of her works touch several different genres, she has an archetype when it comes to the female protagonists in her stories — they have to have certain brand of strength, be deeply flawed, and harbor layered personalities. In her books you will find themes that reflect the darker side of life with a tremendous amount of depth and complexity. She also has an affinity for characters that aren't necessarily the girl or boy next door, or the people you'd encounter in everyday life. In other words, she prefers to explore characters who aren't easy to fall in love with.
Currently, Courtney can be found either working on her next book, playing the latest role-playing game on her X-Box (preferably a game by BioWare), or spending time with her family

Senior year is really shaping up to be something. A week before school starts, I get accused of shoplifting right in front of my crush, Russell James, aka The Preppy Prince. He makes my entire body melt like water, and I hate that he has that effect on me. He’s totally not my type, and I refuse to be ruled by a few wayward hormones. Only he seems sort of cool, and, well, he looks pretty hot in his football uniform. But who am I kidding? He’s got Amanda Prescott his preppy match making a grab for his jersey. Russell could never be into someone like me. We’re from totally different planets. Besides, I’ve done something that I’m pretty sure someone like Russell James would never approve of. I’m not so sure I approve either. I’d die if anyone ever found out. Yeah, senior year is really shaping up to be something.

Heather Knowles is the coolest chick I know. She’s a little wild but she’s genuine, honest, and drop dead gorgeous. The more I get to know her, the more I want to spend time with her. She’s finally opening up to me, and a part of me really wants to tell Heather all about my haunted past—that I’m not the person anyone thinks I am. If my mother had her way, I’d go to the grave with that info. But Heather is probably the only person who would understand. She’s so beautiful. I don’t know how I got all the way to senior year without getting to know her better. Now the only thing I want is to make up for lost time.

My name is Amanda Prescott, and Russell James is mine. I’ve known Russell all my life. Our parents belong to the same country club, social circles, and tax brackets. Russell needs to face it. We are destined to be together. That little slut, Heather? She doesn’t stand a chance. Once I let the entire student body in on her dirty secret, Russell will run straight into my arms ducking for cover. There’s never been anything or anyone that I’ve wanted that I didn’t get. Yeah, my name is Amanda Prescott, and Russell James is mine.

#1 - LILY “I wonder what would happen if you lost your ability to shield.” That simple question from Lily’s best friend, Sandra, almost got them killed. As Lily Morgan drove them to school for their band practice in her Mini Cooper, it took all of her limited driving skills to keep them on the narrow suburban road and not in the ditch. “Let’s not ever mention this again!” Lily’s heart raced at the thought of it. Sandra Jones was the best friend anybody could dream of. She was also everything Lily was not. She was outgoing, tall, and beautiful with her long, straight blond hair and blue eyes. She always wore the nicest outfits, and guys regularly asked her out on dates. She could have been part of the popular crowd had she wanted to, but she was perfectly content being in the marching band, just like Lily. Sandra and her family, in addition to Lily’s uncle, Charlie, were the only people alive who knew what Lily could do; she had the ability to feel the emotions of the people around her. The only way for her to function and have a close to normal life was to build mental shields, which prevented the barrage of emotions from continuously assaulting her. Sandra knew how important shielding was to Lily, particularly in an emotion-infested place like high school. “Just saying. I mean, you’ve been giving me the silent treatment since we left home. I had to find a way to make you talk.” “Well, that’s not a good subject on a good day.” “Then, what’s eating you?” “My mother, again.” “I don’t understand. Why don’t you take Charlie’s offer and move in with him?” “It’s my house, Sandra. If anything, she should be the one moving out.” “Not going to happen, not until the courts kick her out. You know that better than I do. She’s not going anywhere.” Her friend was right, unfortunately. “Can we move on to something else?” “What did she want this time?” Sandra asked instead. “Another party to introduce you to your future husband?” Lily nodded. She could easily imagine Sandra rolling her eyes, and if she hadn’t been driving, she was sure she would have seen her do exactly that. “I don’t get it,” Sandra continued. “She’s not even your real mother.” “I don’t get it either. Why does she keep throwing me at those guys?” “Beats me,” Sandra said. “Did you say no?” Lily remained quiet. She never said no. She still held the hope that if she did exactly what her mother requested, maybe one day she would approve of her. Hope definitely made people stupid. “When will you, Lily?” Sandra asked, turning toward her. “You deserve better than this.” Lily sighed. She had tried to explain it numerous times before, but Sandra never understood. After all, Sandra’s mother loved her and was always so proud of her. “David said football practice starts today,” Sandra said, changing the subject. Lily felt her best friend’s eagerness at sharing the news, and she knew what was coming next. “Malakai will be there.” Ever since she had admitted to Sandra that she liked the star wide receiver over a year ago, Sandra brought him up every chance she had. “Why don’t we talk about your love life for a change?” Lily suggested. “Oh, no, we’re so not. Yours is so much more fun.” It was Lily’s turn to roll her eyes. “So, what else did David say?” “They should begin practice around nine this morning.” “They have it so much easier than we do,” Lily said, turning onto the access road that led behind the school. “You got that one right. If they practiced half as much as we did, they would wear paths in the football field.” “That’s probably why we practice on hot, steamy asphalt,” Lily said as they arrived in the parking area. “It sucks, really. Why don’t we get to practice their amount of hours and they, ours?” “Because what we do is more complicated?” Lily suggested with a smile. Sandra shrugged and glanced out the window. “Look at it on the bright side.” “There is one?” Sandra asked, irony coating her tone. “No!” They were both laughing when Lily pulled into her usual parking spot.

EXCERPT REVEAL: Soulless by T.M. Frazier @TM_Frazier

soulless excerpt reveal.jpg

Excerpt #1
"I'll deal with you when we get back to the house," Bear snapped, his words loaded with so many different meanings I trembled with both fear and anticipation.
"You're going to deal with me?" I asked. "How are you going to deal with me?" My attitude and confidence faded with each word until the last was merely a whisper.
"Yes, DEAL with you," Bear warned, suddenly pausing to take in my appearance. Slowly, from top to bottom, like he’d only just realized I was standing there. His eyelids hung heavy over his sapphire blues as he licked my body with his eyes, drinking me in like he was thirsty.
No, not thirsty.
Hungry.
When he licked his lips I could have sworn he was about to eat me alive.  I tingled all over.  The awareness of him in such close proximity after so long washed over me.  Angry or not, my body didn’t care.  I didn’t care.  I wanted to reach out and touch his face, reassure him that he had no reason to be angry, but part of me liked that I could draw that kind of reaction from him.  He came alive when he was pissed, and something inside me loved that he became this primal possessive beast out to remind me who it was I belonged to.
Bear clenched his jaw and the muscles in his neck tensed and strained. He looked as if he were ready to either kill or fuck.  All I knew was that, one way or another, I was about to de devoured.
I pressed my thighs together, trying to manage the pulsing between my legs, but the contact only ignited it further. Bear chuckled and glanced down to where my ankles were crossed. He closed the gap between us in two short strides, taking me off guard. I stumbled backward, tripping over a lose rock in the road. he reached out and roughly grabbed my arm before I could fall, pulling me flush into his hard chest. His warm skin radiated through my thin dress. I bit my lip, suppressing a moan. My legs grew weaker and weaker as he lowered his head, inching closer and closer, until I was sure his lips were going to meet mine, when without warning he released my arm and spun away. "Get in the fucking truck, Ti," he called back to me.
I stood there, unable to move, and trying to catch my breath while he headed over to King’s truck like that moment never passed between us. When he noticed I wasn’t behind him he growled and stalked back over to me. He grabbed me by the waist, his fingers digging into my skin.  He lifted me up, my short dress bunching up over my butt cheeks and slung me over his shoulder like I was a rolled up rug.
Wack.
He slapped my ass with his open palm. Hard. The bite of the smack stung where I was sure he’d left his mark. He tossed me into the truck with a caveman grunt and slammed the door behind me.
I was confused as all hell.
I was so angry.
I was also elated.
I was in lust so hard that I was in physical pain.
I was really fucking angry.
I was head over heels in love.
Motherfucker.
