Beau by Brooklyn Taylor Blitz

Beau
Novella from The Forever Series
By Brooklyn Taylor
Release Blitz
April 15th

Synopsis

I am Beau Evans, God’s gift to women and I damn well know it. I am fearless. I would rather be working as the homicide detective in Dallas, Texas than anywhere else. I’m the crazy bastard they call in when no one else wants to go. I’ve seen things that would cause others to commit themselves to mental hospitals.

I look damn good; thanks to all the time I spend in the gym and the good genes I was blessed with. I screw who I want, when I want, how I want. I call the shots and wouldn’t have it any other way.  I live for me and no one else. I am my own man and do not answer to anyone but myself. I live by these rules and no one will change that.

That is what I had convinced myself of anyway, until I met Piper Dylan. She drives me insane in every way possible. Everything about her annoys me and turns me on at the same time.  She has absolutely no interest in me whatsoever. The more she pulls away and resists me the more I want her.
My life starts to become unrecognizable and is spinning out of control. I, Beau Evans am becoming something I never wanted and always swore I would never become. I begin fighting for something I am not sure I completely want. Do I walk away for the second time in my life or decide maybe, just maybe, it’s not all about me any longer?

Excerpt

I moved up and let myself free from my blue jeans. I felt like I could break a stack of blocks with my hard-on and hoped to God she could accommodate me. She isn’t the only woman that had claimed to be able to handle me but not been able to hack it.
I had never felt a woman as ready for me as I slid in her moistness. She gripped my ass and guided me to the speed she wanted. She pushed me in so deep, grinding her hips against me. I could have sworn I was seeing stars. The sensation was so intense and nothing like I had ever felt. I had entered Heaven.
She kissed my neck and bit my lip, sucking as she let go. Her rhythm was steady with mine, and when I brought her to climax, she leaned her head back. I could see her eyes rolling back in her head with satisfaction.
“Feel good, baby?”
“Evans….”
“Yes.”
“Faster… I want more.”
I moved faster and faster until I finished and moved slowly back and forth to get the full effects of the amazing feeling.
I stood up all the way, and she wrapped her arms around my neck.
She giggled.
“Well?” I asked her.
“Well?”
“Was I as good as I said I would be?” I confidently ask, already knowing my answer.
“I’ve had better.”
“Really? Who? Give me a few minutes and I’ll try again.”

Title: Unpredictable
Author: Shantel Tessier
Genre: Erotic Romance
Release Date: April 6, 2015

My niche in life is being an asshole. It suits me. I’m that guy who jokes about love and how settling down is overrated. Why would a guy ever fall for one woman when you can have as many as you want? Makes no sense to me.

But if being a cop has taught me anything, it’s that life is unpredictable. And that is exactly what Katherine is. The woman makes me question my sanity on a daily basis. Sometimes she makes me want to keep her to myself; other times, she makes me want to jump off a cliff just to get away from her.

Yet I still find myself turning into that little pussy I said I’d never be. Showing up on her front door holding flowers, only to have her throw them at me. Calling just to say hello, only for her to press ignore. Yeah, I’ve become a pussy all right. A whipped one at that. At first she was a challenge, but now I don’t like the fact that she is playing hard to get. But when someone comes after me, threatens my job, my life. It’s her that stands by my side. It’s her who has to pay for my sins. And it’s her who I’m threatened to lose. One thing that you need to know about me is that I'll fight for what I believe in. And I believe in her more than myself.

What’s that saying? Boy meets girl and the rest is history…Well, those who fuck with what is mine, will become history.

I sit at the wedding party table and watch the lovely couple smile at one another as they eat their cake. It’s sickening.

I can’t get my mind off the beautiful yet bitchy woman sitting next to me. She is having a much easier time ignoring me. But she did admit earlier that she was a good faker. I try to get up the courage to speak to her by taking another drink of my wine. I don’t need the liquid courage to actual speak to her; I need it to keep me calm from being a dick, which is what I do so well. I really don’t want her to kick me in the balls like she said she would.

“Would you like to talk about what happened that day?” I ask her politely.

She looks up from her cake and stares at me as if I have two heads. “Not to you.”

“Maybe I can help you,” I offer. “I am a police officer,” I remind her as if I wasn’t the one who threw her down in her front yard and handcuffed her. “Does that type of thing happen often with you and your boyfriend?” Maybe they like to fight. Maybe it’s like their foreplay. Believe me, I have seen some crazy shit.

She places her fork on the white tablecloth and leans over to whisper, “I told you once and I’ll tell you again. Drop it. What happened was none of your business.”

I reach out to softly rub her arm, and I feel it break out in goosebumps. “Does he hurt you?” I ask looking deep into her eyes. I’m being a total ass, and she knows it.

She jerks her arm away from me. “I had just got home that morning and was in a bad fucking mood,” she growls.

Just gotten home? It was like seven in the morning. “What in the hell were you doing just getting home?” I demand. “Especially the way you were dressed.” I smile as I let the dickness come out. “Been out hooking all night? And your man got tired of having to share you?” The memory of her telling me that she wanted to fuck her man’s best friend is still fresh in my mind. And what a thought that is.

I hear Samantha gasp as I watch Katherine’s eyes narrow on me. She reaches over to the table, and the next thing I know, she’s shoving her cake into my face. “Vas te faire encule salaud,” she hisses in my ear before I feel a cold liquid land in my lap. I can literally hear my cock sizzle as if she just put out a fire. Holy fuck, did she cuss at me in French? I think I just came.

Since her divorce two years before, Kelsie Collins has been determined to guard her heart and steer clear of seemingly ‘perfect’ men. An easy task considering the kind of men her matchmaking mother and her best friend, Nanci, keeps setting her up with. She allows them to set her up, knowing their hearts are in the right place and that there is no risk of her letting any man close enough to hurt her again. Her growing experience in ways to slip out of those ‘dates from hell’ prompts her to start writing a bad date survival guide. One aptly titled - OPERATION: DATE ESCAPE. And it’s during one of those escapes that sexier than sin firefighter Cole Maxwell comes to her rescue.

Cole isn't sure what to think when the sexy redhead he’s just ‘rescued’ from a bad date informs him that he’s too ‘perfect’ to date. That’s a first. He’s had relationships end because the women couldn't handle the risks that go along with his chosen profession, but never because he’s too perfect.

When his crew gets called out to rescue someone who is stuck in a tree, Cole finds himself once again coming to Kelsie’s rescue. This time he’s not about to let her get away without agreeing to give him a chance, even holding her high heels hostage to make it happen. She finally gives in and things heat up between them like a 3-alarm fire. But there’s more than passion between them and Cole sets out to prove to Kelsie that he’s nowhere near ‘perfect’, but he is the ‘perfect’ man for her. Can he get past the wall she’s built up around her heart? Or will he end up being just another chapter in her book of men she ran from?

*Operation: Date Escape was a Romance Writers of America Golden Heart finalist as well as a finalist in the American Title III Competition put on by Romantic Times and Dorchester Publishing.*

The phone rang once...twice, and just as she was about to hang up out of habit he answered.

“Hello?”

Damn.

“Hi.”

“Kelsie?”

His husky voice oozed over her and she closed her eyes.  She had to stay strong.  Be firm.  Only not in the way she knew he could be.

“Stop thinking about that,” she immediately scolded herself.

“Thinking about what?”

She tugged at her bra, fumbling with its clasp to unhook it, but her fingers were being about as uncooperative as her tongue.  At least her thinking process was still intact.

“Have you ever tried to take a bra off yourself before?”

He chuckled.  “Can’t say that I have.”

“Well, let me tell you, men should have to wear these damn things every day and then we’d find out just how much you all appreciate them.”

“Are you all right?”

She dropped into a sitting position at the edge of her bed.  “Oh, no you don’t.  I’m not going to fall for that one.”

“What one?”

“You want me to say that I’m not alright.  That I think about you all the time.  That─”

“Do you?”

“What?”  What had she been saying?

“Think about me.  Have you been thinking about me, Kelsie?”

“Wouldn't you?” she asked.  “I mean if I were you and you were me wearing my bra, wouldn't you think of me?”

“I’m going to take a wild guess here, but have you been drinking?”

She fell back onto the mattress with a soft sigh.  “Just a little.  Nanci and I went out after work.  She had to buy my drinks because she tricked me into calling you tonight.  And you really need to stop changing the subject.”

He gave a husky chuckle.  “And that subject would be?”

She stretched her arms out above her head, twirling a curl between her fingers.  “Sex.”

“Sex?”

“Just because you’re hot in the sack...no make that really hot in the sack and a nice guy to boot doesn't mean I should go out with you again.  In fact, it’s all the more reason I shouldn't.”

“I see.  So you’re looking for a not-so-nice guy to spend the rest of your life having really bad sex with.”

“Exactly.  Then I won’t have to worry about falling for him.”

“Like you are for me?”

“Yes.”  She scooted up the mattress to rest her head on her pillow.  “You’re really good at this breaking up stuff.”

“Not as good as you think.  I still intend to get you to go out with me again.”

by Jeanne Obsessive Pimpette

I was gifted this book for an honest review through Obsessed by Books. I love novels filled with humor, and this one exceeded my expectations. Kelsie is a snarky divorcee whose mother is always setting her up with losers for blind dates. Kelsie's no more interested in dating than the man in the moon. In fact, she's in the process of writing a book that gives women ways to escape from a bad date! Her best friend, Nanci, isn't much better in the "fix her up with a guy" department than Kelsie's mom. I laughed all the way through it. I couldn't help but love the characters. Lindsey Brookes is awesome!
