RELEASE BLITZ - Love After Pain by Torrie Robles @givemebooksblog @TORRIEKROBLES

Title: Love After Pain
Author: Torrie Robles
Genre: Contemporary Romance
 Release Date: August 23, 2015

I didn’t want to fall in love. Love wasn’t included in the plan I had laid out for myself. My plan was simple; go to school, graduate and become the most well-known corporate law attorney on the west coast. I had it all right in the palm of my hand until the day I heard her voice, saw her smile, and fell in love with the most gorgeous set of emerald eyes.

Love hits you like a Mac truck and you’re done for. Out of nowhere, you meet the person you can’t see living your life without. Then an actual Mac truck hits you and rips your love away, taking your life right along with it. One moment she was there, the next I was left with my daughter and my newborn son. My daughter will only know her mother by the memories in her young mind and my son? He will never know her. He will never feel what’s it’s like to have the love of his mother because she was dead before he took his first breath.

My love for my wife was replaced by anger. Anger that this was my life, anger that my children will grow up without her, anger that I asked her to join me the first day I met her, when I should have just sent her away. If I had sent her away, if I had kept to my plan, then she'd still be alive. She would be able to watch her own children grow, but I didn’t and now she’s gone. They say I'll move on. They say there's love after the pain.

They say I'll learn to love again, but I can’t. I can’t give my heart to someone else when my wife took it with her.

~*~ Obsessed by books arc given in exchange for an honest review ~*~

"Would you rather be the person doing the cutting or the person apologising for their blood staining their clothes while they bleed out?"

The third in the Empathy series, this follows on from where we left off in the previous book (hint to read the others in the series first!). Cereus has moved to college and is trying to play out the facade of being normal. After her time spent with Uncle Ryan, her struggle is becoming harder and harder as his guidance is starting to shout clearly in her mind whenever she becomes stressed. No longer wanting to be a sheep she is the wolf lurking in plain sight, surrounded by her unwitting prey. Unable to deny her inner urgings Cereus starts to play with the people that try to bully her.

This novella charters the break in Cereus as she is left feeling hollow from recent events, unbelieving that her time with Ryan is over as he was the only other person to ever really get her. She is grieving but is aware that others worry for her as she shouldn't feel that way towards a monste, as society has deemed him. Lost and alone yet surrounded by "normal" people Cereus is twirling round and round in the pyscopath gutter...will she snap or will the haunting memories of Ryan complete the missing part of her soul?

Without spoilers this is another mind f@@k of a read, that males you feel slightly dirty for enjoying it so damn much! The plot moves quickly with many plot twists that afterwards leave you reeling. It's a definite read again and again type series as it's so cleverly written you gain a better appreciation with every pass through. Amazing! I love to hate Ryan, he is so hard to define. He is everything you wish you were when you're angry, he acts without hesitation, seeing human weakness and exploiting the seven deadly sins quite fittingly. Making no apologies for taking people's lives and playing with them only deeming a few people worthy enough to escape his superiority. And he has made an excellent scholar in his niece who has taken to the challenge with ease...ahhhhh it's a beautifully dark twisted read.

Five wonderfully blood soaked stars.

I have always had a passion for storytelling, whether it be through lyrics or bed time stories with my sisters. I wanted to be an actress growing up so I could live many roles but I learned early on that my mind was too active… I would want to change the script.I would watch films and think of ways they could have improved the story if they took another direction so i thought it best that i tell my own.
My mum would always have a book in her hand when I was young and passed on her love for reading, inspiring me to venture into writing my own. I tend to have a darker edge to my writing. Not all love stories are made from light, some are created in darkness but are just as powerful and worth telling.
When I’m not lost in the world of characters I love spending time with my family. I’m a mum and that comes first in my life but when I do get down time I love attending music concerts or reading events with my younger sister.
You can find me on Facebook where I love interacting with my readers.

Author Bio

I am an “Indie” contemporary romance author. I live in California with my husband and two teenage boys. I absolutely love being a stay at home mom.

I never liked reading as a kid. I only started reading romance novels in the past few years. My Kindle and I are inseparable now. A thought occurred to me in December of 2012 that maybe I could write a romance novel. So I went to work with the encouragement of my husband and my sister-in-law. It didn’t take long to figure out that I really enjoy writing.

Today I am a self-published author and it has been an amazing journey.

Pain. Physical, or psychological ... which of the two hurts the most? Is it possible for one to hurt more than the other, or are both just as debilitating?

Physical pain is instant, brutal and uncamouflaged. It’s bold and undeniable, often leaving a visible scar of the damage caused. Psychological pain is one that festers within, unseen, yet just as potent. It is often a wolf in sheep’s clothing, slowly chipping away at a person’s soul, lacking visibility.

Both forms of pain have the capacity to bring a person to his or her knees, destroy their faith and render them useless. But when the two collide, merge, unite in a common cause, the effects can be catastrophic.

My body was currently experiencing both forms of pain as I took slow tedious steps across the lawn in the direction of what I had been evading, running from, for the past couple of years.

I knew this moment would come, at one point or another, for some things are just inescapable. Yet, regardless of the inevitability, that did not mean I wished to welcome it sooner rather than later. In fact, the longer I avoided it, the better. It meant I was able to bury it in an untouched grave, that grave’s location deep within my body.

The wind lashed my skin with each step I took, leaving an icy sting. And the leaves under my booted feet cried out when I pressed them into the earth. I couldn’t look up. I refused to, instead focussing on the black leather of my boots together with the grass and gravel that filled my vision. My nails dug into the palms of my hands as I clenched my fists, nerves and apprehension blanketing me. The pain of my biting fingernails was welcome, providing a microscopic distraction from what was to come in mere seconds. But it was microscopic — the pounding of my heart overpowering it and reminding me why I’d run, why I’d fled my previous life and why it was so difficult to return. Returning meant facing what had happened, what I’d done ... what I’d suffered.

Returning meant closure, which, up until six months ago, I’d never thought possible. Six months ago, I’d escaped and reinvented myself. I’d left my previous life and started a new one — one that, unintentionally, included Lawson Drake.

That man, that infuriating man, not only fixed my stupid car, he fixed my broken and tormented heart. He discovered my almost extinguished light.

He discovered Stella.
