Why the hell did you let me kiss you that night?” I purse my lips. “I don’t know.” “You. Don’t. Know.” He says it again without the dramatic pauses, “You don’t know.” “Nope.” Why the hell am I lying? What the hell is wrong with me? He turns to me with an infuriated expression and dark, angry eyes. I know it’s messed up but I think he looks hot. I didn’t realize how much I’d miss him and now that he’s sitting in front of me every one of my nerve endings are on fire. He just looks so damn good. What the hell is happening to me? I just took a shower, dried off, and now I’m wet between my legs. I want to climb his tree, butter his biscuit, and ride him like a stallion … all at the same time. Good Lord. Leaning forward, he rests his elbows on his sexy knees. A second later he rips off his leather jacket, and as he pulls it off his sleeve pushes up and I see the edge of a tat. My nipples get hard. I swear they do. “Okay, McNeill. Here’s the thing. Have you read the Station Book of Rules and Regulations? There’s a rule about fraternization on page twenty-eight.” He’s staring straight ahead, but he shakes his head and slaps his knees. “Okay then, so whatever happened between us night before last, let’s just pretend that it never happened okay?” “Sure,” I say. “You stay away from me, and I’ll stay away from you.” “Right,” I agree while pressing my thighs together and wondering if I have a pair of clean panties. I hope so because the ones I’m wearing are getting wetter and will definitely need to be changed. “So you’re fine staying away from me?” he asks, his voice a little choked. “Yeah. I guess so,” I reply in a low voice as I rest my hand on his thigh. Damn his thigh is hard as a rock. I’m surprised but pleased that he doesn’t push my hand away. His gaze drops down to where my hand is placed and he lets out a long breath. “And I’m not going to kiss you, even though I knew you really liked it when I did, but I’m sorry … no can do.” I want to laugh at that one, and how insincere he sounds, but I can’t because I’m too busy trying to keep my panties from combusting. I’m pretty sure they’re my only clean pair. “You know, I’m pretty sure you liked it too.” As I spread and tighten my fingers over his leg, I swear the heat rising up from him is burning my hand. My thighs are actually quivering. I look down to observe the phenomenon. I’m pretty sure they’ve never done that before. So to test them I rise up, swing my leg over and shift until I’m straddling Lieutenant Joe Murphy. When I fully sink down onto his lap I receive the information that maybe he likes me being there. “Oh God,” he moans with a dizzy look like he’s going to pass out. “What are you doing?” Leaning in, I whisper in his ear. “Sitting on you. I like how this feels.” I wiggle and sink farther into his lap. He nods, closes his eyes for a moment and takes a deep breath. When he opens them again, I swear I see fire. “What do you want?” he asks, his hands resting on my hips. “How about just a kiss? Kind of to test things out again,” I whisper as I place a hand on either side of his face and pull him toward me. When our lips meet this time I’m the one kissing him and I kiss him like I mean business. I put my heart and soul into this kiss, my lips consuming his breath, his heartbeat, his heat. I feel his grip on me tighten as he presses his fingers into my flesh. I moan long and deep when he pulls me down over where he’s hard for me. Damn, like everything about him, he’s big. So big.

I closed my book and looked up from under the maple canopy to the blue sky above. I had a normal life, but girls in books always went on adventures. I guess that was what going far off to college was to me, an adventure. My future was already planned, but I’d give anything to be one of those heroines. I wanted to live the life I found in these books. I was still lost in thought over the ending when there was a thump on my lap. College students were walking all around and a few tossing a football between them. I looked down expecting to see a football.
It wasn’t a football. The head of a perfectly cute guy was lying across my lap. He had tipped over from sleeping next to me and stayed fast asleep, even after his fall. I looked at him and waited for him to wake. I mean, his fall startled me out of my daydreaming. He didn’t wake. He kept sleeping peacefully.
He was gorgeous—-underwear model material. His dark hair had a glint of red in it and was splayed across his forehead. He had high cheekbones and perfectly-shaped lips. Stubble ran across his cheeks, and it seemed like it had been days since he had shaved. I looked at his fluttering, sleeping eyes and wondered what color they were. Mystery man just kept sleeping, like he had often found himself on unknown girls’ laps, and it didn’t bother him. I needed to move soon, but I was stuck, and I couldn’t help but admire him. He had his shirt off. It was draped partially over his shoulder now, but mostly on the ground beneath him. My eyes wandered down him to find he was very fit. All of the muscles around his shoulders and arms were perfectly defined, along with his washboard abs. His athletic shorts were low on his hips, showing off more than I had been close to in a long while since I’d attended an all-girls high school. I turned my head away before my eyes drifted any further. I had to stop checking out this guy. I mean, yes he literally fell into my lap, but I was beginning to feel like a creeper. How could he still be sleeping?
He murmured a few words in his sleep. “Maat mitra.” I didn’t know what that meant, and I was sure they were another language. Beautiful boy spoke another language, at least in his dreams. A language I had never heard. He continued to talk softly enough that only I could hear him, but none of it was in English, or any language I knew, for that matter. He was foreign, beautiful, and laying across my lap half naked. If I were a bit bolder in my ways, I’d say I hit the lottery. This was going to go down as the oddest start to my school year, but an embarrassing one once he woke up and found me drooling over him.

“What about an apple?” I held up the reddest of the two, rotating it back and forth.

I could practically see the thoughts hammering his head the same way they did mine. Maybe his were less obvious, his torment only visible because I witnessed the change in him.

“A cola?”

He rested a hand on my thigh. “You eat. I’ll have something when we stop.”

I set the cooler down between my legs, keeping the apple but laying my other hand on his.

“Hmm,” I said.

He glanced at me. “What?”

“I guess I’m just disappointed.”

He frowned hard enough to make me pity the thing that dared disappoint me. I guess there was more evil in me than I’d known.

I sighed as audibly as possible. “Someone swore to fulfill my needs later…” I rubbed the apple against my lips, inhaling its sweetness. “But you’ve been driving all day—and haven’t eaten since six a.m.” I suppressed the spasm forming in my throat, and held my lips even. “Frankly, I don’t believe it’s going to be everything I was guaranteed.”

The brakes squeaked. We jerked to a halt behind the car stopping in front of us. Traffic hummed and groaned outside the car. Inside, silence screamed electric.

The hand beneath mine tightened over my knee.

I took a bite of apple to keep from choking on a laugh.

“Is that so?” he asked, his voice more honeyed than the fruit dissolving over my tongue. “And to think I thought you were sweet.”

Haithem turned my hand, raised it and clamped his teeth over the fleshy mound on my palm below my thumb. I gasped, the sting just enough to remind me he had bite. How easily he could chew right through me just like the apple I held, if he ever decided to use his teeth on me.

“Now, when I’m good and ready—” He turned his face towards me, let me catch the wicked promise in his eyes. “—I’m going to fuck you like you're not."

Oh, sweet Jesus.

He’d been taking it easy on me all this time? He released my hand and pried the apple from my fingers.

Then ate the apple whole.

I’d never seen someone eat an apple that way—from top to bottom, core and all.

He ate the freaking stem.

He actually ate the stem.

Who eats the stem?

Apparently, Haithem eats stems. I reached between my knees and pulled a cola from the cooler, cracked the lid and took a gulp. Served me right. I got what I wanted…and now I’d get what I wanted…

If I could survive it.
