Synopsis
Fresh out of rehab and into the real world, Roxie is
thrown into the deep end of despair and temptation. Whilst in rehab, as well as
recovering from her demons, there’s one thing she knows for sure. That Mason is
the man for her but she fucked it all up in the arms of Joe. Now she needs to
fix what she broke, if only Mason would just listen to her. Instead he flaunts
women in her face and ignores her every try. Unfortunately for Roxie, in anger
Mason points Joe in her path, not knowing the danger he has put her in.
Thankfully, she has much needed support from her girls and it’s not long until they reveal her hidden secret. The burden of it tears Roxie apart and on top of the buried addiction to alcohol, constant blackmailing and worry from Joe, everything is revealed in a bloody mess.
Torn between the right path and the wrong, can Roxie fight her daily craving for the bottle and heal from her scars? Can she escape from the greedy hands of Joe safely and will Mason finally give Roxie a chance to beg for his forgiveness and have one last and final chance?

Review by Nadia Chief Obsessive Pimpette
"I took you into my world knowing about the kind of people that advantage, and I didn't see you falling."
How do you start over when the past woun't stay in the past? How can you hope for a brighter future when your eyes are blinded by the darkness of your guilt? Two halves of one whole, will Mason and Roxie be able to strive towards their future together or will the shackles of their regret hold them back?
Roxie is fresh out of rehab and determined to embrace her second chance. Having learned to identify her triggers and deal with the whirlwind of need for alcohol her mind creates to cope with her depression Roxie is stronger than before. Facing up to her mistakes Roxie wants nothing more to be accepted and loved by her friends, the surrogate family she feels most at home with. The lifestyle is a big temptation to return to the dark ways of addiction and is she really strong enough to cope with the lure of a rock star groupie life? Roxie is also immobilized by her feelings toward Mason, he is her Achilles heel, having been in counselling has made her realise just how much she feels for him.
Mason is totally lost in his own hell of guilt. He blames himself for her decline into addiction as he was too blind to see and save her earlier. He wants to care for her, support her but is fighting his own feelings. In true Mason style he f@@ks up royally and it takes a colossal mistake to shake him from his stupor. Rock star life is never easy and as he is his own worst enemy he pathes the way in inviting more heartache!
Trouble, drama and danger have not yet finished with these two as Joe lurks in the shadows. He is more dangerous than he seems as poor unfortunate Lacey and Natasha discovers. The plot twists and turns and takes a darker road in this series. The bonds of friendship and love are strong and clear in this book resonating in every line. Black Inferno is a family that no one should try to mess with! The writing style is captivating and emotive, I could not put this down until I had turned the last page. A brave and sensitive approach to several close to my heart subjects, I think this book will strike a chord with many readers.
A five star emotional rollercoaster read.

Ember is the third book in The Black Inferno series by K T Fisher and moves onto Roxie and Mason Masse. Mason is the enigmatic brother of Cole, lead singer of the band Black Inferno, and Roxie is the best friend of Lacey, Cole's girlfriend.
These two have had a connection from their first meeting in book one Heat and sizzled throughout the second book Ignite too but all that turned to ash when Roxie's self destructive behaviour lead her to break Mason's and her own heart with her actions and refusal to admit her problems to anyone, let alone herself. Those actions lead Roxie to rehab and Mason with a broken heart.
Ember begins with Roxie leaving rehab and feeling determined to conquer her demon's and make amends with her friends and Mason. But that's hindered with a secret she has to keep, one that could effect both their future's forever once it's revealed and any hope of reconciliation. Plus with living with Lacey and the band so soon after rehab comes the temptations that a bands lifestyle entails: drinks, drugs and a life of excess to battle daily as well.
Time has been hard for both Mason and Roxie, they've equally felt hurt, angry and alone. Mason is determined to safe guard his heart by staying away from Roxie, no matter how much it hurts himself but that behaviour leaves Roxie feeling more alone than ever and feeling more dejected and vulnerable at this emotional healing time for her. Her friends and the band all offer support, but that's not the same as the forgiveness and connection Mason could offer her if only he'd give her a chance to apologise. With her secret also weighing heavily on her shoulders will this drive her back to last addictions and into further danger??
With the ever present press, groupies and the dark side of fame lingering around the band Black Inferno Mason and Roxie have plenty to contend with just to be civil again but when a more sinister, dangerous and sly person wants to 'reclaim' their connection to one member of the bands family at any cost the bonds of family will truly be tested and the true meaning of love and forgiveness is shown.
Once again K T Fisher creates a book you immediately connect with and the familiarity of the characters feel like friends. This book is different to the previous two as its dealing with real life issues and the darker side of life, but this true to life as its not all hearts, flowers and unicorns in the rockstar world either.
~~ I was lucky enough to beta read this book and K T Fisher I need Crystal's book soon!!

EXCERPT
I see Mason is standing inside, surrounded by the guys,
but what I’m not prepared for is the half-naked woman standing at the top of
the stairs when I walk inside. “So I see it’s true.” I cross my arms over my
chest. “Rox, this isn’t what it seems,” Mason starts, but I give him a look.
“Really, Mason?” He doesn’t say anything else, and that tells me everything. I
try to calm myself down, because this is hard for me to see. Fresh out of
rehab, and I’m already forced to see this shit. I was counselled to accept
responsibility for my own downfall, so I try my best to calm my rage. “I don’t
see why you had to bring her out of all people, Mason,” Crystal scolds. “This
has nothing to do with you!” The girl, Natasha, shouts down to her. “Bitch,
this has everything to do with me! You’re messing with my family!” Crystal
shouts back. “Chris...” Booker warns, and I don’t miss the odd look Tate gives
him. I look up at Natasha, and it hurts to see how skinny she looks. I have
curves, a big bust, and here’s wannabe Barbie looking down at me like she’s the
shit! That just pisses me off! I’ve gone through so much bullshit lately, and
I’ve worked so damn hard I don’t need Natasha looking down at me. But still, I
need to reign in my anger; this all comes down to me. If I hadn’t slept with
Joe, I doubt my depression would have spiralled like it did. Maybe we wouldn’t
be here right now, maybe I would be at the top of those stairs looking satisfied
with myself. For me to start screaming and shouting right now is something I
don’t want to do. Nor should I. “You need to get your skinny ass out of here,
so go jump in your little Barbie car and fuck off!” I direct up at her, and I
hear laughter behind me. “Rox,” Mason warns me and I turn to glare at him.
“Don’t even fucking talk to me right now! You gave me shit yesterday for what I
did, and I pay for that every-fucking-day, yet here you are, sleeping with
sluts like it’s no big fucking deal!” I take a step closer to Mason. “I know
we’re not together anymore, but seeing this so quickly after talking to you
yesterday is fucked up. I thought we could maybe sort through this, because
there’re still things we need to talk about, but I guess there’s no point now.”
“Come on, guys,” Tate says, ushering everyone out. I stop them, “No, stay. I’m
going now anyway.”
