FIRE ME UP
Deacons of Bourbon Street #2
Rachael Johns
Releasing Sept 1st, 2015
Can a scorching affair with a
bohemian beauty tame a motorcycle man with a dark side? Rachael Johns takes the
wheel in the sexy series co-written with Megan Crane, Jackie Ashenden, and
Maisey Yates.
Travis “Cash” Sinclair values only two things from his days with the Deacons of Bourbon Street: his prized Harley Davidson and the man who gave it to him. But now Priest Lombard is gone, and Cash has inherited the Deacons’ clubhouse—not to mentions its unexpected tenant. She’s exactly the type of woman he tries to avoid: all incense and art, with a sharp tongue that promises trouble. So why does Cash want to push aside those flowing skirts and lose himself between her legs?
Billie Taylor fled a bad marriage to start a new life among the grit and glamour of the French Quarter. She refuses to let another man distract her from her dreams, especially an outlaw biker with nothing to offer except hot sex and an eviction notice. Cash is dangerous, with an untamed streak he tries desperately to conceal. He drives Billie wild, sending her too close to the edge for her own good. And she won’t fall under his spell—or into his bed—without a fight.

This is book 2 in a collaboration of 4 authors writing about New Orleans Bikers. Each is a standalone and book one is Make You Burn by author Megan Crane. The author of this book, Rachael Johns takes over and gives us one hell of a hot and gritty ride following Travis/ Cash and Billie.
Fire Me Up continues the story of the Deacons of Bourbon Street MC, a former 1% club that basically disbanded in 2005 after a run gone bad and someone was killed. The Deacons’ president Priest banished his four top men from New Orleans. Ten years later they return to New Orleans after Priest has been killed in a motorcycle accident. Each of them harbors anger and resentment because they never understood or knew why they were sent away. They were all saved by Priest from a life on the streets, after they were abandoned by their family so his banishment cut them deeply.
Travis (road name Cash) has spent the last 10 years away from his bikers life building his own security business. He wears suits and has more money than he can spend. He is a player and has no problem getting a woman for some quick sex. His heart is hardened towards getting involved with any woman because of his mother’s abandonment of him. He’s also shut off from forming any bonds with any of his former MC brothers because of his feelings that he was abandoned, yet again, by Priest. He returns to the Big Easy with plans to attend a funeral, sell the Bourbon Street Property that Priest left the four men, and return to his life in Florida, far away from the place he grew up and faced so much heart break. But as always, life throws him a curve ball in the form of Billie.
Billie is a free spirited woman from Australia who has baggage from an ex-husband who tried to control her and never appreciated her. She ends up in New Orleans and rents the space that formerly housed the Deacons’ club and sets it up as an eclectic art gallery where she sells various artists’ work. She loves where she is and loves her gallery but has decided she doesn’t need any man because all of them want to control you; especially an ex biker: she won't give in even though she's drawn to him and his sexy, dirty mouth.
When Travis and Billie initially meet there are sparks of 'animosity and hate' not passion. But the saying their is a fine line between love and hate is clearly shown here. Travis eventually shows Billie his true inner self, which turns out to be a strong, alpha male who is not afraid to give a woman complete independence. Billie soon learns that relinquishing some of her independence comes with many perks: protection, passion and power. Their relationship and Travis' time with his MC brothers is far from easy, it's a twisting and tense time all round but Travis and Billie both have to decide if what they want is worth the pain and effort in the end.
An one sitting read with plenty to keep you engaged, I'd recommend to anyone who wants a fast paced MC read

Fire Me Up is the second book in The Deacons of Bourbon Street series. I am a huge fan of MC romances and this was another one to add to my list of good MC reads. This book was a little tamer to the first one. I love how this series takes place in New Orleans and how the authors re create Bourbon Street and the history that surrounds the area. This book is about Cash another member from the Deacons of Bourbon Street he is also in town for the funeral of Priest. He meets a feisty artist named Billie who has a back bone in her and she stands up for what she believes in. These two characters were also another great couple in this series. I can't wait to read the next on in this series.
