DEVIANT
***Warning: Contains strong language, violence and scenes of an explicit nature***
Most fairy tales end with a happily ever after.
This is not a fairy tale. He is not her Prince Charming about to whisk her away into the sunset. This is a story about betrayal, lust, desire and, ultimately, revenge...
And revenge can only lead to one thing.
Tyler
He was my stranger, my visitor, my shadow in the corner of my room. He stalked me, watched me, knew everything about me. But all I could do was sit and wait. I waited for him to visit me night after night. He was becoming my addiction, my craving, my obsession. He knew every inch of me, but I knew nothing about him.
His calls himself Lotus and, as crazy as it sounds, I think I’m falling in love.
Dean
I wanted to take her, possess her, dominate her, and ruin her. I wanted to ravish her, please her, and consume her until I couldn’t take much more of her.
She will want me to kiss her. She will want me to hold her all night so that she feels a connection with me. I would make it so that she would seek me out in the dark. The one that satisfies her ultimate fantasy. A stranger who sneaks into her room. Someone who gives her the ultimate pleasure, but also seeks to give her ultimate pain. Pain she has never had to endure. Pain that will eat away at her until there is nothing left.
She was my nemesis, I was her lotus. And payback was a bitch.

This book is definitely not a fairy tale book and it is just how I like them.
I think that some of you will agree that this book tells a tale of a fantasy that deep down you would have, but wouldn't tell anyone.
Tyler is such a girl that expressed her want of a fantasy, but didn't know about how real it was about to become.
Dean I think is a character that you would love to hate, I understood in some ways the reasons behind his feelings towards Tyler. He went to the extremes of exacting his revenge, hoping that the outcome will come out in his favour.
Jeremy is a child that is older than his years and you will find yourself feeling for him, I think in the end he had his bit of happiness.
This is a read that will take you along for the ride, you will be engrossed within the pages and rooting for certain characters. It is a dark read and not suitable for readers that don't like taboo subjects.
I for one cannot wait for the next book by Jaimie.

Childhood friendships, three best friends that thought they would always be there for another morphs into something dark and twisted. Ian and Tyler grew up together, having only two years between them, their parents knew each other and they spent their childhoods in each other's shadows. Now adults Tyler is fast approaching 30, she is a successful journalist and works alongside her best friend Ian. They have a friendship that borders on a FWB and sometimes Ian takes the flirting a little too far but Tyler thinks nothing of it. She is blissfully unaware of his true intentions.
Now the third best friend Dean arrived in a blaze of flying fists, immediately becoming Tyler's hero. From the age of six she was aware of him as something more than friends. Their souls connected and they planned on a happily forever after. At sixteen they were planning on consummating their love but Dean had to leave due to family issues...promising to come back. Tylers parents never approved of him and she could never understand why they leaned in Ians favour.
We learn all the dynamics of the threesome in flashbacks to their shared youth and relive some sweet memories glimpsing who they were destined to be before an act of jealousy twisted their paths and made Dean very dark and Deviant.
Believing Tyler to be partly responsible for the death of his parents he embarks on a quest to destroy her as she has destroyed him. Carefully planning his retribution he stalked her every move and becomes her "Stranger." Playing to her fantasy of having an unknown man take her Dean uses the name Lotus to break down her inhibitions and infiltrate her every thought. She is totally unaware that she is being manipulated although her dreams are trying to break through her blindness.
Starting her own column "Love from Afar" Tyler builds a relationship with a young boy in the hospital and forms a deep loving friendship with him. We see another side to Tyler and my heart felt bruised after I read their scenes. I won't give anything away but Jeremy was the light in the darkness in this book.
Tyler submits to the very unusual agreement with her stranger/stalker and as we read Deans POV see he too is being sucked in to his own plans as his Uncle advises him,
"You seek havoc, but all you'll end up finding is repair."
The plot thickens and wow what an ending. Suffice to say the devil is unmasked and things are not what they seem...will Tyler be reunited with her childhood love Dean? Can they bury the past and heal old wounds...
A four star gripping read.

Review by Emma Mistress of all Dark & Twisted
Deviant by Jaimie Roberts is not a sweet fairy tale, it's not a love story, nor is it a romantic novel. It's a dark, sinister and an insidious tale of heartbreak and revenge. Every page, every sentence draws you in, makes you want to know more about these people who are driven to extreme measures. The twists and turns, while unexpected, are so well thought out and planned that you can't put this book down.
Tyler is a 30 year old journalist, who really has never got over the boy she fell in love with at 6 years old. Dean was her one and only, but he disappeared when she was 16. Never to be seen again. But now, Tyler is being stalked. Scary, horrible and eerie? Not for some reason to Tyler. She is not scared, in fact she almost enjoys it. She's intrigued and curious about her stranger, but what path will he lead her down and will she be prepared for what she discovers down there?
Dean is powerful, strong and wealthy men. But moreover he's pissed off. He loved Tyler but she betrayed him. Now, he will make her pay: simple, logical and reasonable to him. He is finally ready to begin his revenge, but can it do without risking his well thought out plan!! As with many events not all is always as it appears and if "you seek havoc, but all you'll end up with is despair."
This is a definite must read for anyone who likes stories of revenge, lust and plenty of twist and unexpected turns.

I received this ARC for a honest review.
Tyler is a hard worker and a sweet character.
Ian is a good friend or so you would think.
Dean is the best character to read about. He is really lost and playing his revenge game.
Will he succeed?
No spoilers here. Read: you will not be disappointed.

How could anyone move on from a betrayal so devastating, it cut down to the bone and rooted itself deep within? You could never forgive such heartache…
Or could you?
From the moment Tyler was six, she fell in love with that cocky eight-year-old boy with the black spiky hair, captivating blues eyes, and scruffy uniform. From the moment he punched a boy for hurting her, Tyler knew there was no going back. They were always meant to be together...
Always.
Then everything changed. The stage was set like a tragic Shakespearean play, and Tyler’s and Dean’s world—as they knew it—had ended.
Or had it?
Tyler
My name was Jessica now. I faked my own death, changed my identity, and moved thousands of miles across the ocean just to escape the one man I would never get out of my heart. I had a four-year-old son I adored more than anything in the world. On one fateful, horrific night, the life I knew disappeared in the blink of an eye. I left people behind. People I cared about. People I would never forget. People I loved.
But had I truly moved on?
No one said leaving behind the one man you had loved since you were six would be easy. I lived life day-to-day. I even met a man and tried to settle down. Evan was a man any woman would desire. So why could I not love him the way he obviously loved me? Why couldn’t I move past the dark-haired, blue-eyed boy who consumed my every thought? I may have left him, but he had never truly left me.
I could never love another man. Dean made sure of that the day he breezed into my life. I was only half a woman now. I had been broken and bruised by the one man I thought I could always love and trust. How could I let go of something like that? I suppose I just had to. I was just getting by with each day that passed. I was coping. I was managing, and that was keeping me from falling apart.
But then disaster struck again. And it was on that day…
Everything changed.
Dean
You can’t hide forever, Tyler. I will always be hunting you, always be searching, and will never give up. If there was ever one certainty in your life, it was that. You slipped through my fingers, not once but twice. You took my heart with you when you left me that day. No amount of alcohol, women, or punching bags would block you from my mind. You couldn’t be dead. I wouldn’t allow you to be dead. You’re out there somewhere. I must congratulate you that you had evaded me for this long. You always were a smart girl. How could I not have fallen in love with you? You did escape me this time, but I will find you, Tyler. I promise you that. And when that day comes…
I will finally make you MINE.

"I was a withering mess, all because of a lost boy I loved with all my heart."
After the devastation of a hurricane that has travelled through full force without a care for the damage caused what choices do the survivors have? Lock it down and rebuild all that was lost or move somewhere far away in the hope that you can out run the storm and salvage from the scraps enough to carry on? This is the second part in their story and you must read Deviant first for this to make sense as this is set four years after and deals with life after the natural disaster that is Dean. Tyler has moved far away, half way across the world and taken extreme measures to leave her past behind. Yet one moment of sheer panic sets the wheels in motion and her past quickly introduces itself to her present but can Dean ensure he has a place in her future?
Tyler now known as Jessica as rebuilt her life after realising the true extent of Dean's meddling in her life, the orchestration of so many life shaping events just in the name of revenge. Living in America and now working as a teacher Jessica has it all; a home, a career and a talented surgeon that worships her. Yet something is holding her back and preventing her from giving her heart away. He haunts her dreams and the echo of him lingers so that she is never truly free. Throwing caution to the wind knowing he will find her Tyler braces for the impact, facing her fears her anger and most of her emotions.
This is a truly wonderful second part of a story that was originally planned as a stand alone. It's not often we get to read about the aftermath of such a dark and twisted plot and this made a surprising change. Not as dark as book one this instead deals with the grittier more realistic side, the ugly truth of the life after vengeance and how everyone dale with the scars differently. Tyler has grown up a lot, sacrificed plenty to enable herself to be strong enough to be enable to face Dean. Dean has spent the last four years in a hell of his own making, desperately missing her and living with the regrets of his actions. Dean is determined to make amends and prove how sorry he is. The chemistry between them has not diminished and these tow seriously need a room whenever they are near one another.
The supporting characters add lots of humour and a sweet sub plot too. Jimmy and Tara have their own demons to battle but no one messes with Dean's family without facing the infamous wrath of the Scozzari's. With an amazing blend of drama, emotion and suspense this book had me hooked. There are still the darker elements of the first book as don't forget Dean is head of a very powerful and scary family...the ingenious use of rats had me smiling, I like the dark side ;) Can Dean leave the past behind or will Tyler be proved right when trouble comes knocking at their door? Can they ever just be the two children that met and fell in love...and god forbid live happily ever after?
A five star deviously delicious read!

Redemption is the second book by Jaimie Roberts in the Deviant series. You need to have read Deviant first before venturing into this one as it answers many questions left from book 1 along with taking you on a roller coaster of epic highs and lows in typical Roberts style. It's not as dark as the previous book but instead it gets under your skin with the realism of the characters and feel inducing writing, it's an emotional read with clever suspenseful twists and turns you truly don't see coming...
Set four years after the gripping and shocking ending of Deviant Tyler O'Shea is merely existing in her new life in the states. She's a kindergarten teacher, financially wealthy but feels empty and alone. Her only solace is Jeremy, he keeps her going; without him she'd be hollow after the betrayals of Ian and Dean have left her feeling like: "I was drowning, flailing in a sea threatening to swallow me whole and never spit me out again."
Tyler has managed to allude Dean Scozzari finding her for 4 years, but when an event rocks Tyler's carefully constructed new life her world begins to shatter around her with the act of one phone call back home to England.
This book is truly about Dean's redemption, he never gave up in finding Tyler and this book is him fighting to find Tyler, make up for everything he did to her and doing his best to let her see he's not Lotus anymore.....and make her 'his'. Tyler is understandably not one to easily let Dean back into her life, she battles with the conflicting feelings she has for him against what he's capable of doing: "You're too dangerous to my mind, my body, my heart. Don't you understand that? Don't you understand what you did to me?" But her dilemma lies in choosing: do you fight for what your heart desires and take a chance at possibly being truly complete with the risk of heart break and danger or keep running and hiding living a half existence without your other half?
When her old and new life collide and many secrets are revealed who will Tyler trust and what will she do with the secret she's protecting too? Plus, can you ever truly leave your dangerous past behind now matter how hard you try to escape it or will its roots find you wherever you go and wreak chaos and vengeance in its wake?
I devoured every page of this book and delighted in the humour, drama and passion within its pages. Jimmy and Tara were amazing secondary characters who I hope we get more on and gave the whole book a family feel to it. Redemption is more than a concluding book to Deviant, it's story telling at its best and I can't recommend this book and Deviant enough!!!
