The Righteous and the Wicked by April Emerson

The Righteous and the WickedThe Righteous and the Wicked by April Emerson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Small moments can seem insignificant until they change the course of a life forever. The sound of a bulldozer. A chance meeting at a gas station. A gust of wind through a chime. Benign events become something more when viewed through the lens of fate.

Emma Santori is a prisoner of tragic memories. Locked in a spiral of depression, she leads a desolate and empty life, trapped in her decrepit home. Rooted in routine, she’s numb and vacant. As a lonely Catholic school teacher, her only joy comes from her young students. One Saturday morning, her isolation is infiltrated by a mysterious architect building a home beside hers.

That man is Eric Wilder and he’s keeping a secret—a secret that’s destroying his life. Filled with guilt and self-loathing, he’s forced to move often. He chooses the small northeastern town of Pine Lake as his latest refuge, and hopes to make a successful attempt at starting his life over. As always, he’s unable to make that happen.

That all changes when he meets Emma.

She finds herself drawn to Eric when she accidentally bumps into him, but Eric’s unfazed by their first meeting. When a gust of wind brings these two people together once again, Emma discovers Eric’s secret. She’s forced to battle between her Catholic faith and her desire for this stranger.

Their attraction is intense and they soon discover they’re each lonely and longing for what the other has to offer. As their friendship blossoms, Emma realizes her passion and lust for Eric are the remedy to her depression. Eric discovers his feelings for Emma are the only antidote to his secret burden.

They begin an erotic journey, which leads these beautifully broken people to discover that love can be both righteous and wicked

My Review

I received a copy of The Righteous and the Wicked from Netgalley.

This a heartbreaking story about two broken people who find each other.

Emma & Eric both have issues but that find each other and the story is very different to those I've read before.

What could of been done is the book could of been written in the persons pov.

If you are wanting to read a story that is not fluffy and warm then this is the book for you.

Cat Fights by Elaine Dyer

Cat FightsCat Fights by Elaine Dyer
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Cat knew she was going to die, but she was determined to do it under her own terms, which meant she had to escape her kidnappers and the brutality they had planned for her.  She is so focused on jumping overboard, she doesn’t at first recognize the man from her distant past who’s come to rescue her.  And when he tells her he’s been sent by the father she’s believed dead for eighteen years, she knows he is either lying or mistaken.  But once he regains her trust, she finds herself wishing for much more than friendship.
Jase’s memory of Cat as an aggravating childhood friend isn’t anything like the exotic beauty he’s rescued from modern day pirates.  Not only does she look like every man’s fantasy, but she’s proven herself to be brave, smart, and his equal in every way.
But the danger to Cat didn’t end with her rescue.  Somebody wants her dead, and it’s up to Jase to make sure their attempts on her life fail.  The last thing he needs or wants is to become personally involved with the person he’s charged with keeping safe, but the temptation Cat offers is hard to resist.  In the end, her safety is as crucial to his future as it is to hers.

My Review

This is a romance suspense, the story unfolds quickly about a young woman named Cat who lived with her grandmother in Brazil. Cat & her grandmother are kidnapped by pirates, as this unfolds she is rescued by her father who she was told had died. Jase is an ex navy seal who was adopted by her father after his parents died and he believed his daughter was dead.

Even though the plot was fast paced I feel that it could have been developed a lot more, I you felt the pull in the story but I felt a little let down through it.

The Tempering by Adrianne James

The Tempering (Mackenzie Duncan, #1)

The Tempering by Adrianne James

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Product Description

The Mythology department at prestigious Harvard University is tiny—and Mackenzie Duncan has just been selected as one of the lucky few. Her love for myths and legends is strong, but she never thought any of it could be real.

After being attacked by a large wolf while walking home alone, Mackenzie realizes something is not right. She heals quickly, is suddenly super strong, and is experiencing mood swings that can't possibly be normal. The myths she's studying aren't myths at all. Werewolves are real and she's one of them. Fear of what she is, and who she might hurt sends Mackenzie running from the life she’s worked hard to build–and straight into the arms of a handsome Were named Geoff and into the home of his pack. Living with her new pack takes the edge off her confusion and self-loathing, but the arrival of new pack members changes the dynamic, and tests Geoff and Mackenzie’s growing relationship.

The hardest part of being a werewolf is having no control and no memory of her time as a blood thirsty beast. When a moon cycle passes and she actually remembers bits and pieces of the night, she starts to ask questions, and the more questions she asks, the more she realizes she doesn't like the answers. Can she set aside her own sense of morals to belong to a pack that is like a family or will she leave everything behind yet again in search of a life she can be proud of?

My Thoughts

I found this book to be really refreshing

It's very different to other werewolf stories and I found the characters to be really engaging.
McKenzie is a really fantastic character who can stand up for herself and knows how to fight for things.

If you like paranormal reads then I suggest that this is the book to read.

I cannot wait to read the next instalment.

This Man Confessed by Jodi Ellen Malpas

This Man Confessed (This Man, #3)This Man Confessed by Jodi Ellen Malpas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

THE STUNNING CONCLUSION TO THE THIS MAN TRILOGY!

The Manor, the very place where their passionate love affair began, fills with guests on what should be the happiest day of Ava and Jesse's lives. She has accepted that she'll never tame the fierceness in Jesse-and she doesn't want to. Their love is profound, their connection powerful, but just when she thinks that she's finally gotten beneath his guarded exterior, more questions arise, leading Ava to believe that Jesse Ward may not be the man she thinks he is. He knows too well how to take her to a place beyond ecstasy . . . but will he also drive her to the brink of despair? It's time for this man to confess.

My Thoughts

This is one hot, sexy series

If you like alpha men, then this it the series to read

“Do you feel that?’ He flattens my palms on his chest and holds them there firmly. ‘It was made to love you, Ava. For too long it was useless, redundant, not required. Now it’s gone into overdrive. It swells with happiness when I look at you. It splinters with pain when we fight. And it beats wildly when I make love to you. Maybe I go overboard with my love, but that’s never going to change. I’ll love you this fiercely until the day I die, baby. Children or not.”
― Jodi Ellen Malpas, This Man Confessed

The series is breathtaking and irresistible and once you start you will not be able to stop.

A full 5 stars and more

Absolutely loved this series.

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

*This book is not suitable for readers under the age of 18*

What if love was like gasoline? Light a match and become engulfed in it’s flame. Cheyenne is attempting to spend a secluded weekend with her betrothed Collin, when fate intervenes and she becomes trapped at her family’s cabin with another man. Luke, a ranch hand at her father’s farm, makes her heart race. When the lights go out, she finds herself falling into his arms, and into his bed.

Ablaze is part one of a serialized set of short erotic romance titles.

My Thoughts

I recieved a copy of this book from netgalley. In exchange of an honest review

A short story (in a series) 1st installmemt.

This is a very short story and I read it very quickly. It's about a ranchers daughter who gets stranded in a cabin with one of the ranch hands.

For me the story was too short and sometimes a bit tedious to read.

New Adult Contemporary Romance - Standalone Novel

My Thoughts

ARC provided by publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Whilst I do love J.A Redmerski's book, I did find this one very hard together into. It didn't seem to pull me in like her other books did. I felt that that it did confuse you a bit in the beginning when it started off 17 years ago and then jump to 5 years ago.

I just really couldn't settle into this book

My Review

I received this ARC on behalf of an honest review

I do love Jessica's book and I was so pleased to be able to read a copy of this ARC.

This story continues on from Breaking Nova, after Nova manages to pull herself together and start getting on with her life. The book starts with the prospective of Quinton and where he is now and how he has fallen even lower in a downward spiral.

We see that Nova makes it her mission to save Quinton as she feels that she didn't have the chance to save her boyfriend Landon who killed himself in book 1.

This book is not your typical romance, it is dark, heatbreaking and thought provoking.

There were many times in this book where it can reduce you to tears.

I highly recommend reading this next installment of the series of Nova.

Jessica Sorensen out did herself again & I can wait for the next book to be released, I hope that I would be luck enough to receive the Arc to book 3.

Seven Sons by Lili St. Germain

Seven Sons (Gypsy Brothers, #1)Seven Sons by Lili St. Germain
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Product Description

My father was most certainly NOT an innocent man. As the leader of the Gypsy Brothers MC, he was guilty of many things. But he died for a crime that he didn’t commit, framed by an enemy within who then stole his club and everything he had ever worked to protect.

Including my innocence.

When Dornan Ross framed my father, he set into motion a series of events that could never be undone. My father was murdered by Dornan Ross and his sons when I was fifteen years old.

Before my father died, Dornan and his sons stole my innocence, branded my skin and in doing so, ensured that their lives would be prematurely cut short. That they would suffer.

I’ve just turned twenty-one, and I’m out for blood. I'm out for revenge.

But I didn't expect to fall for Jase, the youngest brother in the club.

I didn't expect that he would turn my world upside down, yank my heart out of my chest and ride away into the sunset with it.

Now, I'm faced with an impossible choice - Jase, or avenging my fathers death?

My thoughts

First things first I absolutely love biker books.

This book is about a young girl who swears revenge on a man and his sevens sons after they commuted the most horrific event.

She goes a far to change her name & her appearance to infiltrate them

This book was fast paced and and enjoyable and is part of a series of 7 books

I would recommend this book to read if you love bikers and strong females.

My thoughts

Hmm where do I start with this one.

I found that this book was a bit slow on the uptake and could be confusing at times.

It started to get better towards the end, I kept reading because I wanted to know what was going on. There were a lot of grammar errors in the book & sometimes the characters name was one thing one minute and completely different the next.

Now I would like to read the next book as I would like to see what happens next.
