53 LETTERS FOR MY LOVER BY LEYLAH ATTAR On sale for . 99 cents at Amazon

Adult Women's Fiction/Romance

On sale for . 99 cents at Amazon

This is not your typical love story. It’s not so black and white. Lines are crossed. Walls are smashed. Good becomes bad. Bad becomes very, very good.

Shayda Hijazi—the perfect daughter, the perfect wife, the perfect mother. For thirty-three years she has played by the rules, swallowing secrets, burying dreams, and doing whatever it takes to anchor her family. Shayda Hijazi is about to come face to face with the one thing that can rip it all apart, the one thing her heart has always been denied: love.

Troy Heathgate—untamed, exhilarating, dangerous—a man who does exactly as he pleases. Life bends to his will. Until he comes across the one thing he would give it all up for, but can never have.

Born on the same day in opposite corners of the world, their lives collide. And nothing is ever the same again. Now Shayda is flying free and Troy has found the one thing that centers his soul, but even as they beat the odds, a cancer diagnosis puts Shayda in a painful dilemma. On the one hand is the man who makes her feel gloriously alive and on the other, her children, and a husband ravaged by the past.

Spanning three decades, 53 Letters for My Lover is a fiercely sensual, emotional ride to the heart of an epic, forbidden love that defies it all—an intimate exploration of love, loyalty, passion, betrayal, and the human yearning for hope, happiness and redemption.

AUTHOR WARNING: This book is a blend of women's fiction and romance. It involves infidelity and an attempted rape. If you are not comfortable with these subjects, this may not be the best book for you.

Writing 53 LETTER TO MY LOVER
Guest Post
By Leylah Attar

The idea for 53 Letters came to me when I was watching a music video. I started to wonder about the couple being portrayed, and what had brought them to that point in their lives. I used that as the ending for the story and worked my way back. The entire novel was inspired by music. Sometimes I would listen to a song and picture the same couple at a different stage in their relationship. I strung the evolving vignettes in my head into different scenes and then tweaked them to fit the story.  All the songs are included in the story, except, ironically, the one that got me started. Reader feedback was overwhelmingly in favor of an alternate ending, so it never made it in the published version. So here it is - the missing song that inspired the novel:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnTelUJrDhc

The original version of 53 Letters was a real tear jerker - it slayed everyone including me. I wrote a happy ending for a particularly impassioned reader, but when I put the two stories together, side by side, the happy ending just 'felt' right. I decided to change it a few weeks before publication and let me tell you, it was pure madness, but I am so glad I did it.

I am often asked why I chose to tackle a love story that involves infidelity. It's like the kiss of death, particularly for a debut novel. For me, this book is not so much about infidelity as it is about what happens when we are denied the opportunity to make our own choices, or when we make choices out of external pressure, circumstances or expectations. Although Shayda was not forced into her marriage, she entered into it out of a sense of duty and obligation. This is not something that is specific to any particular culture, country or generation. People override their dreams for whatever reasons, every day, everywhere. Sometimes it takes exceptional courage to stand up for them; we risk being labeled as selfish if we do, and cowardly if we don't.  It's a dilemma everyone faces at one point or another.

Ultimately, this story is about lovean epic love that refuses to be denied - a love that demands, destroys, rebuilds, and redeems itself, and all the people it touched. Right or wrong is something best left up to the reader, and that's what makes reading such a beautiful, personal experience.

(A 53 Letters Short Story)

FREE

Troy Heathgate has it all - brains, brawn and the kind of smile that just begs a ribbon. Everything but the woman he loves. But now he’s back and determined to possess her. There’s just one catch - she’s married to another man.

This short teaser story (9,500 words, 38 pages) is a re-telling of select scenes from ' 53 Letters For My Lover'. It is narrated from the male point of view - raw and uncut.

***This is a companion to the full length novel. Although you can read it on its own, the recommended order is after the full length novel, as an extra glimpse into the hero's perspective.****

About Becoming A Jett Girl:
becoming a jett girlHow did I start the Lafayette Club?
Well, I’m in the business of saving tarnished souls. I hand pick girls from the street who have no options left in life and give them an opportunity they can’t possibly refuse.
They come to work in the Lafayette Club which is full of EXQUISITE DEBAUCHERY, where influential men come to conduct business and lap dances are considered a fine art.
The girls are trained, they are morphed, they are educated, they follow the rules of the club and they know to submit to me. They live by my motto, no relationships, no love, just sex.
They are never touched, only by me, they are never completely naked, only with me, and their personas are entirely anonymous. The only person who knows who they truly are, is me, Jett Colby.
If these girls were ever seen on the streets of New Orleans, you would never know they were a Jett Girl.

“Work Bitch”

Goldie

“Where the fuck are my titty tassels?” Lyla announced, as she dug through her locker.

She was always losing her tassels. To be honest, I didn’t know why she used them to begin with; they were more eighties porn than New Orleans strip club, but she swore they drove the men crazy. I wouldn’t know, since I was always stuck on drink duty, but that wasn’t my choice.
“Seriously, Goldie, have you seen my tassels? I’m on in five,” Lyla pleaded.

“I haven’t. Maybe you should try something other than mini curtains hanging off your tits, huh?

Maybe wear...oh, what do they call it...a bra?”

“Where’s the fun in that?” Lyla asked, as she shimmied her naked tits in my face and I tried to smack her jugs away.

There was a reason why Lyla, my roommate, was center stage at Kitten’s Castle every night. She was drop-dead gorgeous. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get a little lady wood every time she was up on stage. She was one of those mixed breeds who lucked out by having parents with perfect genes. Her skin was a deep brown color, her eyes were light green, and her hair was pitch black. Exotic could be a word to describe her, but I would also say fuck-me-in-the-ass beautiful. Yeah, that pretty much described her.

Lyla gave up on the search for her tassels and threw on a white cropped T-shirt over her naked breasts.

“I’ll just do my wet T-shirt routine tonight. There’s a bachelor party out there that has a lot of money to spend,” she said, while wiggling her eyebrows.

“When is there not a bachelor party out there?” I responded. “It’s New Orleans for fuck’s sake and we work at one of the most premier spots for men to get away with murder when they’re away from their own personal finger huts. You know, since the lighting is pretty much non-existent in here.”

Lyla crinkled her nose at my statement. “Hey, I like the fact that the lights aren’t very bright in here. I’d rather not have a spotlight shining up my Britney while I’m dancing on stage.”

“Easy for you to say; you’re not the one delivering drinks in the dark. I swear, Marv is trying to kill me out there.” I slammed my hand on the vanity and said, “And when the hell am I going to get my chance on stage?”

“Down girl. You get paid well.”

“Yeah, but I get groped every time a pass a hairy and horny man and, as we know, that’s pretty much every guy in this dump.”
“You got to work it, bitch, if you want to get the hell out of here, so stop complaining and put your garter belt on. We have some willing customers out there with some fat wallets.”

I huffed and waved Lyla off as she raced out to the stage to get ready for her act.

I looked into the mirror and studied the reflection that looked back at me. Ugh, I hated that my life had become an uphill climb of trying to pay off bills and debt that were, unfortunately, not even mine, but that of my dead parents. Every day, I have to practically sell my soul to skeezy men just to make sure I don’t go hungry and I can pay off the stack of bills that are piling up on my counter.

I’ve spent the last nine years of my life trying to climb back from the hole that Hurricane Katrina put in it and it hasn’t been easy, especially since I have no degree and no job experience.

That’s why I’m currently sitting in front of a rusty old vanity with piss poor lighting, outlining my azure colored eyes with cheap-as-fuck eyeliner and praying that only one man tries to stick his thumb in my ass tonight. It was a common occurrence amongst the pervs.

About Meghan Quinn

meghan quinnWhen I was in high school I occasionally read books but was consumed by other teenage things so I didn’t take the time to appreciate a good book on a cloudy day, wrapped up in a blanket on the couch, besides “The Notebook” I made time to read the heartbreaking novel.
It wasn’t until I received a Kindle for Christmas one year that my world completely flipped upside down. When looking for books, I came across the Contemporary Romance genre and was sold and I haven’t turned back since.

You can either find my head buried in my Kindle, listening to inspiring heart ripping music or typing away on the computer twisting and turning the lives of my characters while driving my readers crazy with anticipation.

Excerpt:
Shy Ann’s was next in Quinn’s quest to find Sabrina. He opened the door and surveyed the patrons. Sure enough, she sat by the bar, the top of her lovely head barely visible among the crowd. No one sat next to her.

She swiveled in her chair as if an unknown force made her turn around. After a brief second of eye contact, she slowly and deliberately turned away from the door.

A surge of energy passed through him and he marched up to the other side of the bar, away from Sabrina and near the bell that hung over the counter. “Melora!”

The other woman turned at the sound of her name but frowned when she saw who called it. She poured him a Guinness and slammed it down on the counter. “Drink this and go.”

“Melora, I have a problem!”

Instead of ringing the bell and getting the attention of everyone at the bar, Melora turned away and got another drink order. Quinn steeled himself with determination and rang the bell himself. “Hey, Dr. Bankhead! I have a problem!”

The crowd quieted down and every pair of eyes focused on him. Murmured conversations carried through the restaurant, but he held Melora’s gaze. Her angry gaze, with eyes narrowed and lips pursed together. To keep from yelling what she really wanted, Quinn was sure.
“Quinn has a problem!” she shouted through gritted teeth. He didn’t care.

“The doctor is in!” roared the crowd.

“What’s your problem? Asshole.” She said the last part quietly enough that only those around the bell heard.

He took a deep breath. This was it. His one chance. “I’m involved with the smartest, prettiest, funniest woman on the planet. Only something happened and now she thinks I’m the biggest jerk to ever walk the hallowed streets of Harbin.”

“Then I’d say you should cut your losses and get the hell out of our town.”

“I’m not finished. The thing that happened. It was completely independent of anything I did. Only she won’t let me close enough to explain.”

Melora tapped her finger on the bar and shot a look over at her sister. Sabrina shook her head.

“If this woman is as smart as you say she is, then you’re out of luck. The doctor has spoken!”

The crowd cheered in approval, but Quinn wasn’t done. He flipped a nickel in the jar that read Psychiatric Help, 5¢, and rang the bell again. When Melora didn’t turn around, he kept ringing.

“What now?”

The crowd quieted again. Quinn ignored Melora and turned to Sabrina. “I can’t leave it like this.”

Sabrina hopped off her stool and came to his side of the bar amid the hushed whispers of the other patrons. Her lips fixed in a small half-smile and ran her fingers lightly down his chest. Her eyes told him this was not an act of forgiveness but he braced himself for whatever she wanted to dish out. He deserved it.

“Quinn, I believe I act for all womankind when I do this.” She lifted his glass of beer and poured the drink on his head, then shook the remnants out.

The cool shock of the drink was nothing like the ice that replaced the fire in his belly. The crowd quieted down while beer poured down his hair and cheeks and wet his shirt and jeans, eventually dripping to his feet.

“Okay, then.” He held his voice low and smooth. Another bartender tossed him a towel, and he wiped his face, then folded the material neatly and handed it back, his desire tightly reined and shoved into the deep recesses of his soul. “The doctors have spoken!”

The patrons roared and he put a twenty dollar bill in the jar. He left without looking back at the woman who had almost changed his life.
