Meet the Author

Hi, I’m Tommy Crown
I was born in Texas at the height of the Viet Nam war and the hippie movement. We moved around a lot because my father was in the oil business. Mainly in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and South America.
My teen years were spent in California, where I was the poster boy for bad boys. I managed to get suspended from Beverly Hills High and wound up graduating from Hollywood High where the tolerance for bad boys was the norm.
I played drums in a band called, ‘Brand X’. I surfed. I smoked, drank, and chased women. I was pretty good at it.
The chasing women part anyway.
I did my time at Cerritos College where they handed me my first college degree. I now have a couple more. One from UNLV in marketing and another from NYU in journalism.
Next, I spent a few years in law enforcement (LAPD), before flipping to the dark side where I worked in a casino , (Caesars’ Palace) thanks to my father’s connections to the owner, the late Jay Sarno. It was there I found my niche.
I advanced over the years, became a casino boss and traveled the world opening casinos for a group of very wealthy Americans.
I opened the Royale in Port au Prince Haiti, the Flamingo in Madrid, and believe it or not, Rick’s in Casablanca.
During that time, I picked up the nickname, ‘Player’ and for some reason, it stuck.
A few years ago, I decided I wanted to be a writer. More specifically, a writer of erotica. I figured I might as well put my dirty mind to work. I’ve sold stories to Hustler, Penthouse, and Bitch magazines thru the years and their dough was good. Better than most to be honest. The perks weren’t bad, either. I’ll let you think about that.
I thought my years in law enforcement and my time spent as a player in the casino world would serve me well as a writer. It has.
I tend to write things that men can read while getting a haircut, or women under hair dryers, or factory workers on break. Don’t kid yourself though. Doctors and Lawyers read my work, too.
I currently work weekends for VIP Services, a private security firm I co-own that provides protection for entertainers and celebrities. The doughs good and the perks are incredible. Yeah, big black limo, men in dark suits and darker sunglasses moving the crowds out of the way for stars. Cool job.

EXCERPT- THIN LIES

“It does hurt me,” Calisto said before he could stop himself. He wanted to take the words back immediately. Emma stilled in the passenger seat. “Then why play?” To remember. To punish himself. To apologize. “For a lot of different reasons,” Calisto settled on saying. “But tonight, I played so that you wouldn’t have to. You didn’t seem comfortable. I didn’t think you wanted to have everyone looking at you after what happened. It was a small sacrifice.” “But you hurt now,” she said, seeming confused. “Don’t you?” “But you didn’t have to.” For Calisto, that was all that mattered. Turning his head, Calisto stared out the opened driver’s window. He wondered if anyone had noticed that both he and Emma had left the dinner party without a goodbye. He supposed it didn’t make a difference. Calisto didn’t mind Emma’s presence disturbing his peace, either. “Calisto?” Emma asked softly. “Hmm?” Her hand rested on his thigh, and Calisto jerked in the seat at the innocent touch. The problem was, her touch couldn’t be innocent at all. Not with the way he currently felt, the things he had done, or the lines he had already crossed with a mighty “fuck you.” He hadn’t been expecting it, and he didn’t even hear Emma move in her seat. Calisto barely had the chance to spin around and face Emma again before her mouth pressed against his. It was soft at first, smooth like her plump lips, and then her fingers dug into his leg like she was demanding something from him. He didn’t know what it was. Instinctively, Calisto wanted to push her away. He wanted to kiss her back, too. The crazy side of his brain won, the side that listened to his selfish wants and not his needs. Or maybe he needed it, too. Calisto didn’t know. But he did grab onto Emma’s dress. He fisted the fabric around his taut knuckles, and pulled her a little closer. His tongue swept the seam of her lips, wanting more, needing to be deeper, seeking her heat and taste. A little wouldn’t hurt, right? Just a little more. Emma sighed a sweet sound, giving into his unspoken demand by parting her lips. Calisto took the offering for what it was, kissed her harder, and let his tongue war with hers until she was gasping for air. Pulling away enough to catch a breath, Emma tipped her head up and hummed. Calisto couldn’t help himself but lean forward and kiss her chin. He was fucking stupid. Why did she make him so stupid? “I should go in and say goodbye,” he heard Emma say. Calisto was too distracted by the flimsy fabric of her dress in his hands. A little pull with just enough strength and he knew that the dress would rip. She was close, and he could grab her around the waist before pulling her into the backseat. The windows were tinted. No one would see. A little more wouldn’t hurt.

When the doctor utters those three words to you, it’s indescribable. You never expect to hear them. You never think it’ll happen to you. You go through your days living your life, knowing it’s a possibility, but never actually think it’ll happen. When it does, it’s like a car wreck. You don’t see it coming, and you don’t have any time to prevent it.

When you hear those three words, your heart stops—at least mine did. I’ve felt like the world has been against me for so long. Set on repeat to break my heart. When I finally feel like maybe I’ll be okay, it hits me like a sledgehammer to the chest all over again. I thought I’ve endured enough for a while, but apparently, life disagreed. This time, it was like breathing deep only to realize I was submerged under water. I was drowning, and there wasn’t a damn thing I could do about it.

When the doctor uttered those three words to me, my heart stopped, my breath left my lungs, and I could only hear my blood rushing in my ears. That’s when I realized this was the final act. This was most likely the final hit I wouldn’t be able to get up from.
