Blog Tour for The Weight of Guilt by Jon Ripslinger @YAwriterRIP

The Weight of Guilt
by Jon Ripslinger
Genre: Young Adult Mystery/Romance
Publisher: Red Adept Publishing
Release Date: February 24, 2015

Driving home from a bonfire party, eighteen-year-old John Hawk crashes, killing his girlfriend, Riley. Bullied and tormented at school, and crushed by his guilty conscience, John transfers to a school on the banks of the Mississippi River, where he attracts the eye of the principal’s daughter, Megan. Though he’s reluctant, she convinces him to be her prom date. The morning after prom, Principal Jones reports Megan missing. Four days later, her body is recovered from the river, and John becomes the prime suspect in her death.

Charley Cotton, Megan’s best friend, knows that Megan had a secret, but she doesn’t trust John because of his past. John is desperate to avoid adding to the shame he carries for Riley’s death, though—it’s destroying his life. With Charley’s help, he learns that others in Megan’s life had a motive to keep her quiet. But every effort they make to uncover the truth edges them closer to a desperate murderer with everything to lose.

THE WEIGHT OF GUILT
ONE
John Hawk

Riley's drunk, and it's all my fault. Swaying near the blazing bonfire with a dozen other kids, she's guzzling beer from a red Solo cup. They laugh, jostle, and slop beer over themselves.

Damn! I should have been paying more attention to her. I should have kept better track of time. You idiot, John! I need to get her home and tuck her into bed—now—or we'll both be in deep crap. I step up behind her in the brilliant firelight. The heat feels good on my face and arms, but the smoke curls into my nostrils, and I cough. Someone must have piled wet logs onto the blaze.

I touch Riley's shoulder. "We better go."

She whirls. "Where have you been?"

"Checking out Brian's weightlifting equipment. I forgot the time. Sorry."

Flames leap and crackle into the crisp night air, casting flickering shadows across Riley's face. Her eyes glitter like stars in the inferno. A few kids rotate, trying to keep all sides warm. Earlier, we roasted hot dogs, bratwurst, and marshmallows over the oak blaze.

"What time is it?" she asks, her words slurred a little.

"Midnight." I’d promised her folks I'd have her home already. I don't need them yelling at me again. Or breaking us up. That thought jars me. I'd rather lose an arm and a leg than lose Riley. She's the only thing good in my life, except wrestling.

"They never come home before two or three," she says and gulps her beer.

"Let's throw that away. You've had enough to drink."

She smiles, her mouth crooked. "Look who's talking."

"I haven't had a sip." True statement. I never drink the night before a wrestling tournament. I dump Riley's beer but hang on to the cup—I don't litter. I also help little old ladies cross the street. "I can do without your folks being pissed at me. They already don't trust me."

"Yes, they do." Riley grabs my free hand and squeezes.

After planting a kiss on her forehead, I say, "C'mon, pretty lady. Home we go." I guide her by the elbow away from the fire.

The party was a spring break bash at Brian Holdorf's parents' farm pond. Dense woods block out half the sky, and a breeze ripples the treetops. My arm around her waist, I guide Riley across the pasture to my car, which is parked by the farmhouse. A squatty barn and a tall silo loom close by. Brilliant stars and a huge moon light our way. Laughter drifts up from the pond, and the scent of pigs floats in the air.

Opening the car's passenger door, I toss Riley's cup in the back. Then I slip her into the seat and close the door. After I climb in, I close my door and poke the lock button to make sure we're secured. "Buckle up."

Rather than take Interstate 80, I drive a ribbon of country blacktop that twists through hilly farmland. I think I can drive the blacktop faster than the highway—hardly any traffic and less chance of the cops picking me up for speeding. I don't need another face-off with them.

"I'll bet my parents aren't home," Riley says after we've been on the road a minute or two. She leans over and kisses my cheek. "Let's park somewhere. This road's dark." Her hair smells of wood smoke, her breath of stale beer.

I smile. I wouldn't mind parking for an hour or so and making out. "We need to get you home and into bed."

Wisps of fog curl in my headlights. I'm zooming downhill toward the Des Moines River, and the curtain of fog thickens quickly. I cut my speed from seventy to fifty, then to thirty. I don't want to be going too fast if a deer darts into the road. Fifteen…

The fog turns dense—a gray, billowing wall that reflects the glow of my headlights back into my eyes. I squint and dim the car lights. I swallow and slow the vehicle to a crawl: ten miles per hour. I glue my eyes to the yellow center line and guide the car's left fender along the line.

"Why are you slowing down?" Riley asks.

"Can't you see how soupy it is out there?"

I'm not sure when I cross the bridge over the river. The fog is too thick to see even the side rails. But when I head uphill, my grip on the wheel eases. I fill my lungs and exhale slowly. I've escaped the danger. The moment I can see ahead of me though—still going ten miles an hour—I spot headlights racing toward me. They blind me. I barely have time to swear.

This can't be!

Even Riley sees the headlights. She screams, and the next sound is the wail of my horn and the hideous grinding shriek of brakes as I try to swerve and evade the headlights.

Synopsis

They used to be the perfect team.

Two years ago, songstress Sidney Higgins ruined her life by sleeping with not one, but two of the famous Reckless Beat men, Mason Lynch and Sean Taiden. Their night of intimate celebration turned into a worldwide sensation when the video Mason vowed to keep private was uploaded to the internet, destroying her squeaky-clean reputation and turning the world against her. Now she’s broken and left without hope, trying to find the one thing that can get her back on her feet.

A mistake neither one of them is willing to forgive.

When the sex tape went viral and his best friends held him accountable, Mason bore the stigma of asshole with pride. Now, bitterness has destroyed him, driving away his muse and making him worthless in the industry he loves. There’s only one option left to reclaim his creativity, but that would mean collaborating with a woman who wants to castrate him with a plastic knife.

A palpable chemistry even hate can’t diminish.

Forced to work together, neither one of them is prepared for the undesired lust which immediately takes hold. The lies fade away, exposing the truth; however, it also awakens a threat from their past. The person responsible for tearing them apart is back to ensure they don’t rekindle a spark. With their safety in the balance, Sidney and Mason need to determine what they’re willing to risk to reclaim a relationship they wish they’d never lost.

Interview with Mason Lynch

Name(s):
Mason: Mason Lynch aka Mr. Fanfuckingtastic

Family:
Mason: I have a remarkably annoying sister, Toni. And my mother is as harmless and annoying as a moderately sized hemorrhoid.

Physical appearance:
Mason: Brown eyes, Blonde hair. 100% fuckable, if I do say so myself.

Why will reader sympathize with this person right away?
Mason: Not at all. He’s arrogant, annoyingly so. But if you did a little deeper, you might expose someone different.

In your opinion, what is your best feature?
Mason: Just one? It’d be a shorter list if I mentioned my worst features.

Where do you live?
Mason: I have two homes. A mansion in Richmond, Virginia where I can relax and spend time in the studio at my leisure. I also have a penthouse apartment in New York where all the craziness happens.

What one word best describes you?
Mason: Perfect.

What were you like in high school?
Mason: I was in the popular crowd. Always have been.

What were your high school goals?
Mason: Does popping cherries count?

What is your boss like?
Mason: Leah Gorman, the Reckless Beat band manager is a pit bull. If my mother is a hemorrhoid, Leah is akin to a colonoscopy. She’s always up my ass, trying to expose all the shit she can in an effort to ‘protect me from myself’.

What are your bandmates like?
Mason: My bandmates are my brothers. I love them with all my heart and want to kill them in the same breath.

What is something you had to learn that you hated?
Mason: To be humble. I’m not very good at it.

Is there any sexual activity that you will not, under any circumstances, do?
Mason: I will never, ever again tape myself having sex.

Describe the perfect romantic partner for you.
Mason: I’ve been told the best partner for me would be someone who could love me more than I love myself. I’m not sure I’ll ever find that woman.

What do you do when you are bored?
Mason: I don’t have the luxury of boredom. If I’m not on tour, doing promo or with friends, I’m creating music for the next album. It never stops. Hopefully it never will.

Interview with Eden Summers on Undesired Lust

Hello and Welcome All!
Today I’m very lucky to be interviewing Eden Summers author of the Reckless Beat series.
Hi Eden, thank you for agreeing to this interview.

Eden: Thank you for having me. I’m excited to be here.

What do you do when you are not writing?

Eden: Drink vodka…does that count?
Just joking…kinda.
In reality, I’m either doing motherly duties for my two boys, working part time or reading. Most of the time I’m writing though, or promoting J There isn’t a lot of spare time to do much else once the word target is hit for the week.

Is there any particular author or book that influenced you in any way wither growing up or as an adult?

Eden: There’s a long list of authors who have taught me innumerable things, from how to write, to what NOT to do when writing and promoting.
It’s a constant learning process. The industry is changing all the time with authors pushing new boundaries.

If you could have given your characters one piece of advice before the opening pages of the book, what would it be and why?

Eden: To both Sidney and Mason — forgive and forget. Suck it up. Deal with it. Move on…Remember a condom!
But if I told them that beforehand we wouldn’t have Undesired Lust ;)

What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why?

Eden: Both protagonists are song writers, so I had a great deal of fun writing lyrics. Mason’s muse plays with him throughout Undesired Lust. You get to see the snippets that are thrown into his head at any given time. And there are also a few verses from a humorous song Sidney put together on the spot, which is dedicated to Mason’s womanizing ways.

Which of your prior characters would you most/least likely invite to dinner and why?

Eden: I’m always going to be a sucker for Blake from Passionate Addiction—tattooed, damaged and big-hearted—he’s my go-to guy. I’d love to sit down with him and let him know just how proud I am of him.
There may also be the need to swipe all the food from the table and have my wicked way with his inked body too.

Thank you very much for taking the time out of your busy schedule to take part in this interview.

Eden: Thank you for having me. I hope you all enjoy my rockers.

Blog Tour: COVETED by Alannah Lynne @AlannahLynne

coveted_banner

INTERVIEW WITH ALANNAH LYNNE

How did you come up with the idea for this story? I started COVETED back in 2011 when my husband’s health took a bad turn. He’d battled a brain tumor since 2007, but in 2011 it started to grow and change into a more aggressive kind of tumor, and I was really scared about the future. About that same time, I read an article written by a slave whose Master died during 9/11. It got me to thinking about moving on after the loss of a soul mate and what it must be like for a submissive whose entire world revolves around her Master. Fortunately, once I started writing, Muriel and Mathew took over and made the story all theirs, so it didn’t become too personal for me. Where do you find your inspiration? Everywhere! LOL It might be from something I’ve read, a television show, or song lyrics. I’d say 80% of my story ideas come from songs. Carmella, in DARING MASQUERADE, was inspired by Katy Perry’s song “Darkhorse” and the line, “She’s a bitch. I call her Karma.” What are your current projects? The next story I’m gearing up to write is EXPOSED (Pandora’s Playground #2)… Lucas Steele finally gets his HEA. After that, I’ll release STRIPPED (Pandora’s Playground #3) where Mercy from GOING ALL IN (Heat Wave Novel #3) will face her demons. I’m pretty sure there will be at least 1 more Pandora’s Playground story, but I might release one or two Heat Wave stories before the 4th Pandora’s Playground. I still have to write Heat Wave stories for Steve, Robby, and Tyler. :) What is for you the perfect book hero? For me, he needs to be a little wounded so he can realize how much better his life is with the heroine in it. I really like heroes with a sense of humor (which was a struggle for me while writing COVETED because in the beginning, Mathew had no sense of humor). And he’s got to have great eyes and a killer smile. A sexy body is good, but the smile is most important. List three books you have recently read and would recommend. “Hell or High Water” by Julie Ann Walker “Playing with Pleasure” by Erika Wilde “Alex” by Sawyer Bennett Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers? Thank you!!! I’ve had a sporadic release schedule over the past several years, and I appreciate them sticking with me and their excitement over new releases. The outpouring of love and support and encouragement I’ve received has been nearly overwhelming at times (in the best possible way ;)). Coveted Teaser 1

EXCERPT

“You need more than a Dom, angel. You need a permanent life partner. I assume you’ll want to remarry. You need someone to come home to at night… You deserve to be held while you're sleeping… To have someone take care of you when you're sick.” She laughed. “Ian didn't do all that. He didn't like to be crowded in his sleep, and he didn't have a clue how to take care of me when sick.” Mathew swallowed and his jaw clenched. “If you were mine, I'd hold you all night, every night. And you can be damn sure I’d be right by your side, tending to your every need, if you were sick.” “So why can't you be mine? Permanently?” “Because I don't know how to do any of the other stuff a man is supposed to do for his wife. Hell, Muriel, I've never, ever taken a woman on a date.” “Bullshit, you do know how to do those things. You’re just stuck on this endless loop of false thinking.” She drew in a deep breath and forced herself to calm. “As for dating… I know you’ve never gone on a real date.” When his eyes flared with surprise, she smiled and admitted, “I know more about you than you think. I’ve always been drawn to you and paid more attention than even I realized. I can show you how to date. Just give it… give us a try.” His head went back and forth again, but hope flickered in his eyes and his chest rose and fell with shallow breaths as he considered her words. After a moment, he said, “I'm always amazed by feminists who argue this lifestyle sets women back a hundred years. There isn't a more kickass feminist on the planet than a sub. You may wear my cuffs and spend a tremendous amount of time on your knees, but you fucking own me. You're the one who has me in chains, and there's not a goddamned thing I can do about it.” Her stomach bottomed out as her heart soared. She didn't think for one second this would be easy—nothing worth fighting for was—but it sure sounded like he’d agreed to being more than temporary play partners, and joy launched her off the table and into his arms. Masked Lovers   Coveted
She’s his heaven and his hell... Muriel Stewart has spent the past year grieving the loss of her husband. Now that time has passed, her inner submissive demands Muriel find a new relationship to fulfill her need to love and serve. But there’s only one man who makes Muriel yearn for the intimate Dom/submissive connection the way her husband did, and that’s his best friend, Mathew Galindo ... a man who can barely tolerate her presence. Matthew Galindo buried his own heart and needs the day Muriel Stewart married his best friend and business partner. He’s spent the last eleven years keeping Muriel at a distance, tortured by his love for a woman he could never have, and filled with shame for coveting what wasn’t and would never be his. Not even his best friend’s unexpected death could change that fact. Until Muriel decides she’s ready for a new Dom and wants Matthew to fill that role. Having Muriel in his life is all Mathew has ever wanted. She’s his heaven and his hell, and could be his salvation if he can get beyond his past, his shame, and the guilt he feels for not having saved Ian’s life.

Portrait of loving sensuality couple in dark

I received this book from Obsessed By Books for an honest review. This was my first book by this author and wont be my last. Coveted is a hot love story.

We first meet Muriel who recently lost her husband who was her Dom. Yes Muriel is a submissive. She hasn't done anything since her husbands death. So her husbands friends convince her to go out with them. Mind you Lucas and Matthew are her late husbands best friends. She goes out with them and spends the night with both. They plan a surprise for her and she realizes how much she misses the lifestyle.

When we meet Matthew a divorce attorney. He has always been In love with Muriel. He just never did anything about it since his best friend was Ian. The one night they do share is amazingly beautiful. They are attracted to each other right away. She needed a new Dom and agreed for Matthew to be that person.
I don't like to give much away when writing a review but I will say this. This is a story of love, hot light BDSM and overall so good.
