BLOG & REVIEW TOUR: The Replacement & The Prisoner by Rachael Wade @RachaelWade

The Replacement & The Prisoner by Rachael Wade
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult

Synopsis for The Replacement (January 24th 2014):
*Contains sexually explicit content and mature subject matter, including language and elements of abuse.*

A gritty New Adult drama about a young woman’s self-destructive quest to find purpose, self-worth, and love in a broken world.

My name is Elise Duchamp. I’m twenty-three years old and I’m known as the town whore.

No, not the kind who exchanges sexual favors for money. The other kind. The kind who gives it all away for free, whenever and however she likes. I am that girl. The one everyone whispers about and the one none of the girls seem to like, because all of their boyfriends either want to sleep with me or already have. Promiscuity is my thing—the kind that slowly, violently turns my insides black, but gives me something I need.

All things considered, I’m not completely reckless. I’m safe, and contrary to popular opinion, I do have a heart. I live in a world of careless choices, and with those choices come careless people. I cannot judge them, because I am one of them. I too bow down to the altar of the self-serving. I am not a good friend. I am not and never could be anyone’s girlfriend. I’m convinced any goodness in me shriveled up and died long ago.

But I am a replacement. That is something I know how to be, and this is a story of the lengths I’d go to in order to keep it that way.

REVIEW BY WRENN BLACK BOOK OBSESSIVE

his was a very raw emotional read. Many times people are broken from what they have endured in their lifetime, but they try to hide it. Not Elise, the protagonist, she puts it right out there for all to see, not caring because she doesn’t think she is worthy of anyone's love. She never learned to care because she is so emotionally scarred from her mother's death and her father's emotional and physical abuse. She lashes out to all who try to come close to her the only way she knows how, by using her body. Because she feels no one can love her, she makes it difficult for any of the people in her life to get close, personally sabotaging all who try. One wall after another goes up, as people, especially men try to get close. The main premise involves Elise’s beautiful awakening that she is indeed worthy of someone to be at her side.

Two men in her life love her, Christian and Ryder. Who will win out? No spoilers here, but this book needs to be read to understand how raw emotions can be and how a broken life can be healed.

REVIEW BY NADIA DEBOWSKA-STEPHENS BOOK OBSESSIVE

5 star read "That's all you are, you slut - a replacement"

** Obsessed by Books - in exchange for an honest review**

Elise is a whore. She knows it, the town knows it and she doesn't hide it, she has come to uneasy terms with her choices. She is very unlikeable in the traditional sense as she is naturally what most readers of this genre detest - a woman who helps break down marriages by sleeping with men she knows are taken. She doesn't care. It's just sex to her. She isn't looking for redemption. Even when they leave their partners for her she runs...which as a reader makes you shake your head at her!
After a series of dramas with the respective men she is involved with we get flashbacks to her childhood and although it falls a little short to really justify her choices we get to know her a little better and get am inside look into what makes her tick.
Ryder is not your stereotypical alpha male either. Though together they go on a journey of self discovery he helps a broken women morph into someone who feels worthy to be loved.
The sex scenes are well written and hot. The characters including Tim, Jay and Christian provide moments of frustration, warmth and out right he never did!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I for one love  the non conventional characters and was rooting for the HEA!

Synopsis for The Prisoner (July 24th 2014):
***THE PRISONER is a novella (approx. 25,000 words) intended to be read AFTER The Replacement. Contains explicit material and language.***

My name is Christian Walker, and Elise Duchamp is my drug of choice.

No matter how hard I try to break the habit, it’s a lost cause. Okay, maybe I haven’t really tried to quit this particular habit. All I can think about is owning her. Making her mine. Can you really blame me? With that sinful body, luscious mouth, and wicked tongue, she’s every man’s dream, and she knows it.

No one is immune to her charm, not even me, a man who has everything—a beautiful wife, an office with a view, and more money than most people can spend in one lifetime. Only I know how to make her toes curl. Only I know her body better than the other men she screws in her free time. None of them can compare to me.

But the joke is on me. I’m the prisoner.

The one who will never compare to him. The one man who makes me see red. His name is stored in her cell phone. It’s the first one she calls out to, the first one she cries for when all hell breaks loose. Ryder Jacobson.

The name makes me cringe.

She loves him, and I love her. In my own way, I always will. But the bad guy doesn’t always belong with the bad girl. Sometimes the bad girl needs a good man to believe in her, to give her that final push toward ultimate transformation. I wish I was that good man. That I could be her happily ever after. I guess that’s the thing about prisoners, though. They’re left alone with their torment, and in the end, they have no one to blame but themselves.

REVIEW BY WRENN BLACK BOOK OBSESSIVE

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is a companion novella to the book The Replacement that should be read before the Prisoner, to help explain this story.

This novella is written in first person, and is Christian Walkers POV, and I’m so glad the author decided to write about another of the characters in The Replacement.

Christian Walker is the bad boy you love to hate, she cheats on his wife, and he’s pretty much self -centered, but he has a goal.

Christian Walker is stuck in a loveless marriage; he flounders through life with one idea in mind, having the elusive Elise Duchamp by his side forever. He is obsessed with her and though not quite stalkerish, he could easily become so. Although he offers her a life with material things, he is so caught up in himself and what he wants, he cannot give Elise what she needs. Like Elise, Christian also exudes a raw sexuality that comes across as pretty hot. And yes, that bed was burning up! But, Elise needs more than that; she needs someone who will love her unconditionally with a selfless love. Can Christian fill the bill?

This was a great, well-written companion book, and I hope there will be one about Ryder, another hot character in The Replacement!
