FRACTURED LINES- by Jen McLaughlin

BOOK BLURB:

The lines we once crossed so easily have widened and torn us apart…
Once upon a time I thought Finn and I would live happily ever after, but real life doesn't always have a happy ending. He's testing my trust, and I'm losing faith in the man I thought I'd spend the rest of my life with, and there’s nothing I can do to stop it. He’s the one I trusted to keep me safe, but now he’s the source of my greatest pain…
Forgiveness is fragile, and some fractures never fully heal...
One mistake—a slip in a moment of weakness—might cost me everything I've worked so hard for. The thing about trust is that it's a lot easier to lose than it is to build. Just as I'm about to give up and surrender to the demons from my past, an unexpected threat reminds me what I'm best at: protecting the woman I love. Whether or not she wants me, I will fight for Carrie and our daughter, and I will keep them safe—no matter the cost.
Even if I have to put my life and my heart on the line.

***Obsessed by books arc given in exchange of an honest review***
"She was my saviour. She was my downfall. Only she could save me from my demons."
This is the fourth installment of their story but I read this as a stand alone, probably why for me it was a four star read. This follows the slip and slide into PTSD and the wreckage it leaves in it's wake...and the journey of piecing the fractured remnants back together again.
The speedy descent into the dark place shocks both Finn as his world crumbles around him and his wife Carrie as she helplessly realises that she missed all the signs. This follows the twisting events of not fully accepting the after effects of trauma and learning to live with the ongoing issues this leaves behind. It encompasses many issues such as addiction, PTSD, gun violence and bereavement. It is not a light and fluffy read but is very enjoyable and does have a HEA. The characters analyse their faults and failings and emerge stronger, wiser and ultimately more in love with one another for their ephinany.
I enjoyed reading this well written, gritty love story and will be one clicking more by Jen McLaughlin..she's a very talented lady!

REVIEW BY EMMA SCOTT MISTRESS OF ALL DARK & TWISTED

Fractured Lines by Jen McLaughlin is book 4 in the Out of Line series. I haven’t read any her books previously from this series so this was a new one for me. There is some recapping as to what goes on in the other books so you’re not completely lost, but if you are wanting to read this series I would definitely start with book 1 Out of Line to get the backstory for this couple and what they've been through so far. For those who have read this series, you will probably really love Fractured Lines because their favorite characters are back and that's what a series fan wants, I’m not sure if they will be happy seeing their favorite characters go through more drama and turmoil though??

Finn’s past demons come back to haunt him from the forces, causing him to slip up in a moment of weakness. That moment of weakness might cost him the family he built and love with all his heart.
What I found most endearing about the story was that even though things are falling apart Finn and Carrie don’t completely just give up, even when they think they might. They worked through it together.

This is a beautifully written book and worthy of 3 stars. Emma Scott
