Dysfunctional empires were made to fall.
I am Caesar. Broken and conflicted. I am a man who gives false goodness to those who crave it. I provide solace to the ones who beg to be saved, giving them the goodbyes they want. But, my quiet little world is about to be shattered by the whispers from heaven and hell.
I am Mateo. Unlovable and unworthy. I am the boy everyone runs from. I keep love close to me in little jars of perfection, reminding me of a thousand goodbyes I never had to say, because I left them before they could leave me.
I am Svetlana. Dirty and Used. Birthed into brutality while still trying to comprehend my version of normal. I am an injured lamb, eaten by filthy wolves day after day. Just as salvation seems like it's within reach, a goodbye from this awful world is all that I wish for.

“We need to go, Lettie doll.”
Why? Why does he call me that? Why does he make me feel like I want to keep living for tomorrow? I hate it! But I have no choice as I stare into his black eyes. They draw me in and suck the wind from my lungs, once begging for death, now craving life. The tearing I remembered from before with Pavel is instantly replaced with lust, throbbing between my legs as I feel the urge to fall to my knees and kiss his bloody boots to show him how much I praise him. He holds my heart in his hands. He knows this, but something tells me that his heart is in the balance, too.
Girls like me hold no power. I took life. I took one of his dolls because they held something I never will. Peace. Order. Death. I broke. The little, quiet girl who let herself be raped day after day let herself break into a million pieces as the hard dick pleasured her while her lover loved him more. I thought for sure I would be reprimanded for my actions, but a softness I haven’t seen before is present in his eyes. And maybe something else. Worry? Is that worry? Is his face red? I find myself wanting to comfort him, but he doesn’t like to be touched. My warm, trembling hands make him feel uncomfortable. The push and pull between life and death, love and loss, is making me mad.

"I am Svetlana, a lost lamb who gets fed to the wolves every single day, night after night ...Others are created for love. Me, I was made for hate."
Born into a dark and despairing half life, Svetlana had learned how to survive things that haunt most people in their nightmares. Her reality is a version of a living hell every day more horrific than the last. Her father Pavel, pimp and rapist sells her to anyone willing to pay for his next fix and the violence escalates each and every time until she is begging for death. So young yet so exposed to the wicked deeds of mams true nature, she is a beautifully broken masterpiece. Crafted through years of torment and abuse she is like no other and even after reaching her limits she finds an under strength that keeps her heart beating in her chest against all the odds. After one fateful night when her father has sold her to a rabid group of men he descends further into madness and tries to send to her hell by setting her on fire...
Caesar. Trapped by the madness the whispers feed and incite to violence, he has an ongoing deal with Pavel, the Pimp and suppliers of no ones. With a shared history and a working relationship Caesar relies in the weak and willing to fill his beds. Seducing the no ones, offering them one final choice to set them free or continue to suffer he offers the the ultimate freedom - death. Taking orders from the rich and desperate he lives in the darkness, where the voices can be kept to white noise. Dealing in spare parts, he runs a family business having taken his nephew in after he displayed a fondness for the dead and dying. Calling in the final debt with Pavel, Caesar looses what little control he has and takes what he finds and destroys the rest. But her voice seduces the madness in his head and feeds the darkness in his soul.
Waking up in the facility where the no ones lie in peaceful slumber Sveltana struggles to come to terms with her new reality. Is this another version of hell? Who is Caesar and why does he effect her so? Factor in Mateas and the darkest threesome is born. He is content with the darkness that lives in his soul, he has embraced his devils and thrives in the life he lives. Until her. She makes him crave something else, something different.
This book is seriously debased, stripped back to crude instinct and the darkness reality of desperation. There are no happy ever afters and no magic wands just pain, horror and death. That said this book is remarkable. Well written, gripping and although the content is bleak it lights a fire in your soul as the three main characters are so beautifully broken that they are perfect in their imperfections. Written in such a way that the vile acts committed are not sensationalised but are graphic enough to feel the phantom pain I was hooked after the first few pages. The cliffhanger ending...perfect!
Five bleakly beautiful stars.
